Situated on the coast, across from Morecambe Bay is the small village of Aldingham. Local folklore says that the village was once a mile long and that many of the cottages were washed away. Aldingham also has a reputation as a smuggler's village, the perpetrators hiding brandy from France and tobacco from America within the church crypt. The village itself is close to Furness Abbey as well as the ancient market town of Ulverston, just five miles away. Ulverston boasts a street market every Thursday and Saturday, in addition to many festivals throughout the year. These include an amazing lantern procession in November and an atmospheric Dickensian weekend in early December. The town is also the birthplace of Stan Laurel, famous for his work with Oliver Hardy, and as such is home to the only museum dedicated to this double act in the world. With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park and the sandy beaches of the Furness Coast, this quiet and peaceful area has plenty to offer!

Some issues seen 1) The kitchen blind fell down after first use. It seems the wall mounted hooks have an issue. 2) with respect to the hot tub there are few issues, (a) the cover is not tied to the handle so when the handle is lifted and out to a side the cover doesnât stick to it and doesnât allow to be rested against the wall half folded (b) the handle has come off from one side due to a loose screw, itâs looked like this before our first usage (c) the corner of the fence next to the stairs into the hot tub is quite damp, not great to have e kids around (d) the hot tub has some particles in it like dried leaves etc. (3) the wifi could be better, there was no reception from the garden. Overall it was a great accommodation, we would love to visit again.

Had to Google for oven and tried turning up thermostat for heating but didn't work. Needs more coat hangers and shelves/drawers in bedrooms. Otherwise it was a lovely place to stay

Very comfortable beds and chairs. Excellent large towels. Ideal hot tub with scaffolding framework allowing disabled person to be able to get in and out. Only disappointment was the starter pack for the wood burner which was totally inadequate eventhough we had specifically requested it.
