Kirkby House is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, luxurious bathrooms, and thoughtful touches. While parking can be challenging, the provided permit is valued. The property's character and quality fittings contribute to a delightful stay, despite minor maintenance issues and the lack of outdoor space.
Guests consistently mention that the property is very clean, with high-quality towels and bed linens. The cleanliness contributes significantly to the comfort and enjoyment of their stay.
The central location is frequently highlighted as a major advantage, offering easy access to local shops, restaurants, and attractions. The convenience of the location is a standout feature for guests.
The property is described as comfortable, with luxurious touches such as underfloor heating in bathrooms and comfortable beds. However, one review mentioned a claustrophobic room, slightly impacting the overall comfort score.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and abundant bathrooms. Some maintenance issues like blocked drains and a broken blind pull chain were noted, leading to a slightly lower score.
Guests appreciate the thoughtful extras such as dog treats, tea, coffee, and biscuits. While these gifts enhance the experience, it's important to note that such extras, while delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.
Kirkby House is a stunning mid-terrace mews in the scenic town of Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria. Kirkby House is the ideal base for couples, small groups, or families to explore the quaint old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding villages. It’s also just a short distance from the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Pull up outside the house to unload your bags; there is a parking pass in the house for the adjacent car park on New Road with additional free parking on the main road B6254. As you walk in the house there’s a useful utility/boot room, so you can easily store your shoes and coats away from the rest of the house. There’s a washing machine and an additional fridge in here too. The kitchen/diner has everything you need for a self-catering stay. Once a delicious dinner has been cooked, bring it to the dining table or the breakfast bar and enjoy a wonderful meal alongside the glow of the woodburning stove. After dinner, head upstairs to a relaxing sitting room with plenty of seating for you to stretch out on as you watch a show on the Smart TV. Move across the first floor to find two of the three fabulous bedrooms which inhabit the mews, the first of which is a king-size with access to a stunning, underfloor heated en-suite bathroom. The other is a twin with access to a sizeable shower room; both rooms contain zip/linked beds for additional convenience. Ascend the stairs once more to uncover the last bedroom, which is a king-size with contemporary furniture and vaulted ceilings, as well as access to an en-suite shower room; the perfect space for those after a little privacy. The property is completed by a convenient cloakroom on the ground level! Kirkby Lonsdale is known for its wealth of eateries, wine bars, real ale brewery and shops. All of which are just a stone’s throw from Kirkby House. There are plenty of short walks from the house including the circular stroll which is suitable for prams to historic Devil's Bridge. Travel a short way to Ingleton, a town that offers access to the famous Ingleton Waterfall, the mountain and caverns of Ingleborough, as well as treks along the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail. Alternatively, you can travel to the outskirts of the Lake District, where the market town of Kendal offers a variety of activities, such as walks along The Helm, with its wide range of plants and Fell ponies, the KendWall Climbing Centre, for those seeking some exhilaration, and a local museum offering fantastic exhibits. Aside from the adjacent National Parks, which provide a variety of walks and watersports, the Forest of Bowland and the beaches of Arnside & Silverdale, both of which are designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are also conveniently accessible. Choose Kirkby House for an unforgettable holiday.
