Unlike a previous reviewer we had no problem with the heating and found the cottage to be warm, cosy and comfortable. As described it is up a very steep hill and on three floors so be prepared for achey knees! The bathroom suffers from bad condensation and there is black mould on the wall. It was reasonably well equipped but I would have liked a working clock somewhere and surprisingly there was no corkscrew! Good to have a parking place as parking is difficult in Bakewell.

The boiler is malfunctioning, responding to demand from the thermostat with only a feeble boiler temperature resulting in the rads being cold to lukewarm at best: the temperature never got above 17.5 C. We have stayed many times in Sykes Cottages and this has been the first poor experience. Frankly if this had been our first stay with Sykes, we would not be a returning client!

But we had an enjoyable holiday and would return!
