Guests say

The Old Post Office is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in Matlock, appreciated for its comfort, generous welcome packs, and hot tub. It's situated in a convenient location for exploring the Peak District, with good communication from the owner. While some guests reported issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the majority had a positive experience, enjoying the property's character and amenities.

Most guests found the cottage to be comfortable and well-presented, though there were some concerns about cleanliness, including reports of a dirty kitchen and bed linen. These issues seem to be exceptions rather than the rule, as many guests did not raise cleanliness as a concern.

The property is praised for its great location in the Peak District, with easy access to local attractions and amenities. The proximity to pubs and scenic walks contributed to the high rating, despite some concerns about the property's entrance on a blind bend.

Guests generally found the beds comfortable and the rooms well-equipped, contributing to a cosy and enjoyable stay. However, some guests mentioned issues with bed comfort and a bunk bed arrangement that was not ideal, slightly lowering the score.

The property boasts a well-equipped kitchen, spacious lounge, and a hot tub, which were highlights for many guests. Nevertheless, reports of maintenance issues such as a broken dishwasher and hot tub cleanliness have impacted the score.

The welcome packs and the owner's responsiveness to guest needs were frequently mentioned and appreciated. While these gestures were well-received, it should be noted that such personal touches, though likely, are not guaranteed for every stay.

With 3 toilets / bathrooms we had plenty of room and the dining room fit us all in nicely. There were 2 highchairs available and a Cot was provided. Plenty of kids crockery and cutlery which was super handy. We walked to the Rising Sun (10 mins away) and had a lovely pub lunch, but there was also a pub closer which we didn't try. Really enjoyed the stay, will book again. Thanks so much.

The welcome pack and information provided was a lovely touch and very helpful. The cottage was gorgeous and catered for everyone’s needs. The location is perfect to see the sights even if you don’t have a vehicle. I would highly recommend using this property at any time of the year. Will definitely be booking it again next year as there is still so much to see! Thank you for making our stay so wonderful.

But the welcome pack was wonderful and very appreciated. A couple of small items were the loose toilet seat downstairs and the door being difficult to open and close. There were no instructions what to do about stripping beds and used towels. We felt it was best to leave them so hope we didn’t offend. We had a lovely few days and was enjoyed by all.
