Guests say

Guests have consistently praised 'By the Tracks' for its high standard of renovation, comfort, and cleanliness. The property's location in Buxton is appreciated for its convenience and proximity to local attractions. The well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches, such as homemade biscuits, have made stays memorable. The host's responsiveness and helpfulness have also been highlighted, contributing to the property's warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The property is frequently described as immaculate, with several reviews highlighting the high level of cleanliness. One mention of an unclean upstairs toilet seems to be an isolated incident, not reflective of the overall experience.

The location is deemed perfect by reviewers, with its proximity to Buxton and local attractions within a 30-minute travel radius. The quiet street and ease of parking add to the positive feedback.

Comfort is a strong point, with guests finding the beds very comfortable and the property well-suited for socialising and relaxation. The mention of light entering the rooms due to the blinds is a minor point compared to the overall comfort praised.

Facilities are highly regarded, with a well-stocked kitchen and the convenience of electric vehicle charging. Some guests suggested the addition of coat racks and towel rails, indicating room for minor improvements.

The host's thoughtfulness is evident through the welcome pack and homemade biscuits, which were well-received. However, it should be noted that such personal touches, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Sitting at the top of a quiet road on the outskirts of Buxton, Derbyshire, is this inviting, semi-detached house, By The Tracks. Benefitting from a private driveway with an EV charging point and a rear enclosed decking, By The Tracks is a splendid escape for up to eight guests looking to escape to this region of Derbyshire. The heart of the home is the bright and airy kitchen/diner, uplifted by natural light from the large windows, providing a superb place to prepare home-cooked dishes with assistance from the electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge and freezer, whilst the washer/dryer is sure to come in handy for the laundry. After a filling feast beside a quirky feature wall decorated with places to eat in the local area, follow the oak floor to the lounge and make yourself comfortable upon the large settees, using this time to discuss plans for the remainder of the holiday. Rear patio doors lead to the enclosed decking, where you can relax upon the decking with a favourite drink in hand. Head up to the first floor and discover the first set of bedrooms, including two king-size doubles and a 4’ double, each neutrally presented with beautiful features and fittings. Continue up to the second floor where the fourth bedroom lays, housing another king-size bed and storage space. Serving the bedrooms is the shower room, where you can start the morning with a rejuvenating rinse before heading about your day. The historic market town of Buxton is a superb holiday base; uncover its rich history at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, catch a live performance at Buxton Opera House and admire the landscaped gardens at The Pavillion Gardens. If you fancy a night away from the kitchen, treat your loved ones to a meal at Santiago tapas restaurant, Dubbin Good food or Khomkai Thai Cuisine. Pop on your walking attire and head into the Peak District National Park, where you can enjoy a range of scenic hikes and cycle routes, plus there are several stately homes to visit, including the esteemed Chatsworth House and nearby Haddon Hall. There’s plenty to fill your holiday itinerary whilst at By The Tracks.

The eight thermal springs in Buxton have a constant temperature of 28 degrees centigrade, which is what first drew the Romans to the area. The beautiful semicircular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens, and The Opera House were all conceived and constructed during the 18th and 19th centuries, though, under the patronage of succeeding Dukes of Devonshire. These spectacular structures and grounds, as well as the Opera House's full schedule and yearly festivals of music and the arts, are still enjoyed by visitors today. With rocky peaks to the north, pleasant hills and dales to the south, and a number of charming villages, there is wonderful walking around.

Comfortable beds and hot showers. Perfect for walking into Buxton, but not too far from Chatsworth and Bakewell. Definitely recommend and would visit again. Maybe just needs a coat rack/shoe basket to keep things tidy in the hallway.

It has been refurbished and decorated to a very high standard, which makes it really comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you might need. The beds are all comfy and the entire house was very clean. It’s only a short walk into Buxton in a quiet part of the town.

We visited as a family of 5, and loved the welcome pack, comfortable beds, decking area and open plan kitchen which was well kitted out both in terms of appliances and provisions (coffee machine including pods, tea, soaps, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc). In terms of any improvements, our only suggestion would be curtains or additional blinds as the slat blinds mean the rooms are light when the sun comes up. Owner was very responsive in advance with details on access but also importantly during our stay as we did have a couple of minor issues, but nothing that impacted our stay.
