Guests say

Shortner Croft is highly praised for its excellent location, comfort, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, the thoughtful touches like wine and biscuits, and the beautiful setting. It's a favourite for repeat visits, with its peaceful garden and proximity to walking and cycling routes. Some minor issues with mobile phone reception and the maintenance of the access lane were noted.

Guests consistently report that Shortner Croft is spotlessly clean, with high-quality bedding and towels. One review mentioned finding crumbs and dirt under the kitchen table, but this appears to be an isolated incident in an otherwise exemplary record.

The cottage is celebrated for its superb location in the Derbyshire countryside, ideal for walking, cycling, and visiting nearby towns. Some guests mentioned difficulty in finding the property and the condition of the access lane, but these were minor concerns.

The property is frequently described as comfortable, with cosy settees, a comfy bed, and good heating. A suggestion for softer pillows indicates room for improvement, but overall, guests find the cottage to be a relaxing retreat.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and spacious bathroom. Comments about the sofa and a blocked hoover suggest some areas could benefit from attention, but these do not detract significantly from the overall high standard.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the provision of welcome gifts and extras like hot water bottles and hair straighteners. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches, although delightful, may vary and are not guaranteed.

Very clean and comfortable, a credit to the owners who have thought of everything you could possibly need. The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful Peak District. Lots of walks nearby and pretty villages to visit. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. We had a very enjoyable week and would highly recommend. 10/10. Many thanks.

My wife and I are disabled and having a single storey with no stairs is great. Kitchen table in the kitchen is good. Bathroom is good Living room good. Bed is good. Overall shorter croft is an ideal cottage at the end of the lane not overlooked. There are only two things negative. One is the sofa on the left as you walk into the room difficult to get off.second is the right hand bathroom sink tap is not long enough as to use is causes splashing and messy and the plug hole device jams and needs wd40 spraying to free it.But apart from this we would happily return in the future.

In a beautiful location that was an excellent central base for the Peak District. High spec inside with a very comfortable bed,and joy, a lightweight duvet for summer! Very well equipped kitchen, and throughout. Lovely peaceful garden as well. We cannot fault it in any way,and would highly recommend.
