If heading out in the evening is your preference, Ego at The Dore Moor Inn or The Dore Bar & Grill offer well-priced, delicious menus and are complemented by two local village pubs within walking distance. The local area is well-served by parks and attractions and is blessed with several bus/train routes into the city in one direction and the Peak District and Manchester beyond in the other. Head into the Peak District and the choices are limitless. Highlights include the magnificent Chatsworth House, backdrop to many films and television dramas, Bakewell for its famous pudding shop and an array of quaint towns and villages, which serve as perfect stop off points for a myriad of spectacular hiking, cycling, and climbing routes. A week won’t be long enough. Truly experience it all with a stay at Causeway Hideaway.

Dore is a suburb situated close to the Sheffield, known as 'Dore Village'. Laying in the charming depths of South Yorkshire, England, the village rests on a hill above the River Sheaf which gave Sheffield its name, and until 1934 was part of Derbyshire,

now a suburb of the city. Although the village is a relatively small glimpse of Sheffield it has a rich and diverse collection of amenities, shops, restaurants, societies and interest groups, as well as three churches, two church halls and three public houses with restaurants. Dore is served by Dore and Totley railway station on the Hope Valley Line between Sheffield and Manchester. Close to the Peak District National Park, the lovely countryside is a magnet for hikers, dog-walkers and mountain bikers. Both villages have a selection of eateries and pubs.

With slightly limited mobility, I was grateful for off-road parking only a few steps from the front door, and then everything being on one level. Very comfortable and a quiet location, yet with bus stops and an excellent bistro-pub (Dore Moor Inn) within easy walking distance. Friendly, helpful hosts: nothing was too much trouble.

It's really comfortable and just like in the pictures. It's also ideally located for both the Peak District and for Sheffield. Jo and Andy were very welcoming and we would love to come again!

  • Graham

Really well positioned with lively walks and towns to visit just a short drive away. 2 pubs and 2 cafes within a 5 minute walk and others close by meant there was plenty of choice for eating out too. Andy and Jo are great hosts. Thoroughly recommend this place.
