Another serene spot can be found in the Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve, take a stroll and observe the wildlife with winter being a spectacular season to visit when huge flocks of overwintering birds fly onto the lakes to roost. Being within easy reach of the coast too you can spend a day on the beach in Bournemouth when the sun is shining, head into the pier amusement arcades, grab an ice cream and afterwards enjoy fish and chips at Harry Ramsden's beach front fish and chip shop. Rockford Common is only a short distance away, known for its outstanding natural beauty, it is a great day out. Roughwood offers a homely base to retreat to with your loved one, within easy reach of popular attractions.

Resting within the civil parish of Ringwood, the village Poulner is a small settlement found just south of the Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve.
