Sheepwash Barn in Freshwater is highly praised for its charm, cleanliness, and welcoming atmosphere. Guests appreciate the rural yet accessible location, the well-equipped kitchen, and the comfortable furnishings. The property is noted for being dog-friendly with many walks nearby. Owners Steve and Julie receive commendations for their hospitality and thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts, which contribute to the property's homely feel.
Reviewers consistently mention the property's cleanliness, describing it as 'spotlessly clean' and 'very well looked after', indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.
The location is frequently highlighted as quiet and peaceful, with easy access to local amenities and scenic walks. Its proximity to Freshwater and attractions like Tennyson Downs adds to its appeal.
Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with special mentions of comfortable beds and a homely atmosphere. However, one mention of an uncomfortable Chesterfield sofa suggests a slight deduction in the comfort score.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good Wi-Fi. However, a few minor maintenance issues, such as shower flooding and a suggestion for bathroom blinds, indicate room for improvement.
The owners' thoughtfulness is frequently noted, with mentions of welcome gifts like wine and biscuits. While these gestures are appreciated, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary.
Freshwater 0.5 miles. This superb detached, Grade II listed thatched cottage is next to the owners home in the hamlet of Middleton, half a mile from the village of Freshwater and three miles from Yarmouth. Dating back to the 17th century, this delightful holiday home is ideal for a couple or small family who wish to explore this lovely part of the Isle of Wight. The first room you enter after stepping over the threshold is the kitchen with dining area, then you step into a cosy sitting room. From the sitting room you take two steps up where you will find a small corridor with the bedrooms and wet room off it. Theres two bedrooms at this wonderful cottage; a comfy double and a single, and completing the accommodation is an additional basin and WC. The nearest shop and pub are just less than a mile away, with the nearest beach being a mile from the property. The village of Freshwater, which is reached via a footpath directly outside the cottage, has shops and cafes, with Freshwater Bay boasting beaches and high chalk cliffs. Nice dog walk from front gate.

Convenient location with pub and shops within walking distance - 10 minutes down a path (no lighting at night) and some nice walks from the property. Very well appointed accommodation and everything very clean.

Sheepwash barn is a picture postcard cottage, with superbly finished period-décor, quality furnishings, and is impeccably clean. The facilities are hard to fault - the internet connection is the best I have come across for a holiday home, the hot water is instant and limitless, while the powerful water pressure provides a great power-shower. The enclosed external area supplied with rattan furniture is great for catching the sun all day. The location - arguably as important as the cottage itself, is ideal for walking out on the many footpaths. Tennyson Down, Freshwater Bay, various cafes/pubs, and sleepy Freshwater are easily within reach. Will we be back? Almost certainly.
