About this property

Crooked Well is a historic, semi-detached stone cottage resting in the popular village of Timsbury, conveniently situated for access to Bath and Bristol. A charming two-bedroomed cottage in the very heart of the village, yet peaceful in a so-called ‘select’ cul-de-sac with its own parking area for two cars, it makes a wonderful choice for a couples' escape or a family retreat to the countryside. Originally built in the 1840s, the property now offers a homely base from which to spend quality time with your loved ones; enter into the dining room, conveniently situated so you can sit down and enjoy a warming cup of coffee after a day of exploring, before moving into the sitting room to retire for the evening. Flick on the freestanding, electric fire, which can be moved if an open fire is desired, and turn on the Smart TV for an evening of lighthearted entertainment; this room also boasts a sofa bed, perfect for those with limited mobility who don't want to tackle the stairs, with a convenient cloakroom being on this floor too. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the essentials to prepare a family-favourite meal, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/ freezer, dishwasher, a washing machine and access to a tumble dryer in the shed, you can find all you need and more for a relaxing self-catered stay. The twin bedroom is home to two store-a-beds offering two singles, or a king-size and a single on request, giving each guest a lovely spot to rest each evening. Begin your day with a relaxing soak in the bath, with the option of a handheld shower and a separate walk-in shower too, before spending some time out in the rear garden, home to a patio area with wooden table and chairs with a parasol for those scorching hot sunny days, as well as firepit barbecue tripod for alfresco dining. We really enjoyed it and the local amenities.

It was very clean and had everything we could have needed for our stay, and more. You could tell it had been a much loved family home. The fruit cake was most welcome and delicious. Timsbury is a lovely village and well positioned for the many places of interest we visited, such as Bath, Bristol, Cheddar, Wells to name but a few. We also had a nice walk alongside the Chew Valley lake. The couple of meals we had in the Seven Stars pub which were very good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately we couldn’t sample the fish and chips from the chippy as it was closed for the week. All in all though a brilliant week in Crooked Well, helped by having sunshine every day.

The owner is friendly and told us all about the cottage, and left us a delicious cake. The property is just a few minutes from the village pub and shops. Lots to do in the area.
