Gunnislake is a small rural community that rests on the riverbanks of the Tamar, which are heavily forested. There are taverns and a few shops in this quaint little town. The settlement is located at the beginning of the beautiful Tamar Valley Railway, which runs along the riverbank all the way to Plymouth. Dartmoor, the beaches of both the south and north coasts, and the wonders of Cornwall's westernmost region are all easily accessible from here. Nearby attractions include the Donkey Sanctuary and Cotehele House and Gardens (NT), all less than ten minutes away, as well as the Dartmoor town of Tavistock with its pannier market, pubs, and restaurants. Play a round of golf at nearby St. Mellion, travel four miles to the restored Victorian mining village of Morwellham Quay, hunt for otters and deer along the Tamar Valley footpath, travel twenty-five miles to the beach and picturesque harbour of Looe, and you'll find that there's something for everyone here.
