Angelika Hoell

Unfortunately through no fault of our own our holiday was extremely affected by the farcical parking situation. We arrived late due to traffic and checked our property and there was no parking permit, due to the numerous parking signs I called the out of hours number which is a property management company who quite honestly couldn’t manage !! I was assured that this would be dealt with as an emergency and passed on to the relevant person. I left a note in the car and we woke up to our first parking ticket. I called again and was assured that a permit was being delivered that day and to ignore the parking ticket as they would get it overturned. 5 days into out 7 day holiday it wasn’t sorted we had a collection of 3 parking tickets and i was sick of ringing the owner who either didn’t answer, wouldn’t connect the call or the call went through to the management company, who as I have mentioned were useless. In those 5 days I have been lied to and fobbed off. I called the parking company myself who were extremely helpful and understanding and gave us a 2 day exemption to get it rectified saving us from 2 further tickets. In the end I called Sykes and they did get the situation rectified eventually after several calls and promises of calls back and even suggesting we moved our car !! The whole situation had a massive impact on our holiday, I had to spend each day texting, calling and emailing pictures of tickets to various people and in Cornwall where the signal isn’t great is no mean feat !! I had to pay for the tickets at a cost of £180 which the owner agreed to refund ( like he was doing us a favour) This was a ridiculous unnessary situation that had a huge impact on what should have been a relaxing stress free week away. Not even a phone call from the owner to apologise for our inconvenience at their property. The fact that we had to pay the tickets really annoyed me, thankfully we are in a position to do so but not everyone is and the financial struggle this could have placed on another family is massive. One of the reasons we booked this property was because it had parking and I understand mistakes happen but when they do someone take responsibility and rectify it swiftly, it should not have taken me 5 days to sort this out when one call to the parking company with our registration number would have done it.
