Guests say

Lowenna Manor 10 is a well-located and comfortable property in Rock, Cornwall, appreciated for its suitability for families and dogs. Guests have enjoyed their stays, praising the property's convenience for shops and the beach, and its potential as a base for exploring Cornwall. While the property has received positive remarks for its comfort and location, some guests have noted areas for improvement.

Several reviews mention the property could benefit from a deeper clean, with reports of dust, sand on furniture, and a general need for a more thorough cleaning. These recurring comments suggest that cleanliness is an area needing attention.

The property's location is consistently praised, being described as great, well-located, and handy for shops and the beach. It is also considered a good base for exploring the wider county.

Guests find the property comfortable and the best dog-friendly option they've stayed in. However, some have mentioned worn furnishings like moth-eaten carpets and shabby paintwork, which detract slightly from the overall comfort.

The property has been noted to have good fixtures and fittings, but several reviews point out maintenance issues such as loose doorknobs, broken blinds, and the need for a freshen-up. These issues suggest that while the facilities are adequate, they require better upkeep.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches in the reviews provided, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

Lowenna Manor 10 occupies a prime location in the centre of Rock village on the North Cornwall coast. This elegant, self-catering property has been converted into a three-storey terraced holiday house with a newly extended utility room; ideally placed on the ground floor enabling surfers, sailors, and sandy or wet children to shed their damp gear and jump straight into a hot shower. A small private garden is enclosed and sheltered with attractive shrubs, roses, and rosemary, making Lowenna Manor 10 the ideal base for alfresco dining and socialising. The master bedroom boasts a handsome king-size bed and a very smart en-suite shower room; there is also a twin bedroom with 3ft beds, and a further twin bedroom on the second floor, which is accessed from an open staircase with no door. A practical, well-equipped kitchen with room to cook up some enticing local produce, that can easily be purchased from the nearby butcher, fishmonger, deli, or well-stocked spar shop, is on offer. An open-plan light, bright lounge/dining room has lovely French doors leading out onto the small, paved patio area and garden - an oasis of calm; Lowenna Manor 10 also has shared use of the landscaped communal gardens and boules court. The property is an ideal base for golfers, being situated right on the edge of the St Enodoc golf course with two courses on offer. Walkers will enjoy exploring the pretty footpaths that meander alongside the fairways. Families can take a picnic and walk down through the golf course to find somewhere to settle between Rock and Daymer Bay, after choosing one of the many paths through the sand dunes. It makes it all the more disappointing that we have had such a negative experience this time. We stayed here last year and reported that the bread knife was missing from the knife block - it still hasn't been replaced! it's very frustrating to return from the excellent local bakers with a freshly baked loaf and have to hack it apart with an unsuitable knife. Our main problem was with the downstairs, the armchairs are looking very grubby and worn out. Apart from that, one of them is a potential health hazard, so much so we didn't use it at all, the front legs are 'wonky' and one of them looks on the point of collapse. There is a general air of neglect otherwise, the door handle to the main bedroom comes off and did so twice, two of the loo roll holders likewise, all for the sake of a small retaining screw. The grill tray in the oven was caked in the charred remains of previous meals. I had to scrub it with a scourer myself, surely this should be clean for each new customer? We won't be returning until we are sure these issues have been addressed, the attention to detail is sadly lacking.

    Would happily book again.

The house worked well for our family and it had everything we needed. We look forward to returning.
