What our customers say about their holidays

    • Judy - Verified booking

Beautiful little cottage, private, secure, plenty of natural light.

We were there during a bitterly cold snap but the electric radiators took the chill off very quickly and then the wood burner took over and we were cosy throughout the cottage and throughout our stay. Facilities good enough but maybe time for some upgrading in the shower room. Water pressure good (and I have thick hair to wash) and heated towel rail great. Kitchen adequate, microwave a bit precious in that it'll do, say 4 minutes, then shut down for 5. We got the hang of it! Oven good but not a fan oven. Washing machine a very helpful addition. Freezer section of fridge iced up but so cold outside, it didn't matter. The only downsides were the bed which, in our opinion was verging towards uncomfortable, the quilt and pillows, we thought poor quality although good for laundering and the sofa seemed to push us both into the centre ... cosy I suppose! TV good, no streaming I don't think. A nice little table and chairs for eating etc. All well arranged and attractively set out within the space. Outside area good and parking good. Overall it was near perfect for a short break but glad to be in my own bed. Oh, and Mark is a fabulous host. Thank you Mark for your warm welcome.

We arrive at the bolthole tired after a long journey, we were so please to find that tea, coffee, fresh milk and a proper clotted cream tea was waiting for us, delicious.

There was fresh flowers and a bottle of bubbly too. The place was instantly warm and inviting. Parking is good, right outside in a shared driveway. Crantock is a pretty village, the shop next door was well stocked and the local pubs are a two minute walk, the old Albion was more us and the food is amazing. The Cornishman was lovely and all very new, we used both, the airstream burger van is a bonus too, really good food. The beach is gorgeous, so clean, but if it’s the sea you’re after be prepared to walk ;) The supermarkets are a few minutes drive and your in the middle for other attractions such as Tintagel and lands end, both about an hour away by car. We would definitely recommend the bolthole and hope to return soon.

My partner and I stayed here for a week in February 2022 and enjoyed it thoroughly, the beach was only a 10 minute walk and there was a pub and shop nearby which was helpful.

The cottage itself was lovely, however I do wish there would’ve been blinds or mottled windows at the front of the cottage for security purposes as at nighttime it feels as though people can see in. The only problem we encountered was that storm Eunice hit and a request to check out slightly later than planned to avoid the worst of the storm (red weather warning) was not accommodated and we ended up having to leave before the storm began (5am) to make sure we would be safe. It was slightly difficult to find at first but I wouldn’t have any reason not to recommend it to others. Lovely cream tea upon arrival and overall a really nice week away. Thank you.

The Cart House was lovely and we could not speak more highly of it. The owners were so thoughtful and the House was well equipped with everything you'd need. The instructions on how to get there and where to park were so accurate and helpful and made for a smooth arrival. The Cart House was very clean and absolutely beautiful and in the perfect location for you to go off exploring other places around Cornwall easily. The owners were very quick to respond to any issues we had and were very nice to deal with and made the experience even better. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our week there and would definitely stay there again.

We had a fantastic long weekend at The Cart House, it was well equipped and everything was spotless. Very handy location made it easy to reach everywhere we wanted to go (we did day trips to St Ives, Eden Project, Lands End, St Michaels Mount and Padstow). Would recommend a meal at The Plume of Feathers pub just down the road. We had no reason to contact Phil and Helen but knew we could if we had any problems. There is no outside space or bath so just be mindful if you have a dog but we managed just fine. Perranporth and Holywell Bay are good beaches nearby. Overall we would definitely recommend The Cart House!
