About this property

Porthilly Greys is a distinctive, refurbished Grade II listed Cornish farmhouse, resting in Rock, Cornwall. It has origins as a Grey Friars monastic settlement; whilst keeping some original features like its slate flooring and low ceiling, Porthilly Greys has been fully refurbished into a contemporary holiday home that is perfect for a family of eight to ten’s Cornish getaway. Upon arrival, you will discover three off-road parking spaces accompanied by an electric charging point, for added convenience. Wander inside to be welcomed by a stylish sitting room with a toasty open fire; sit back, relax and enjoy a show on the TV after an eventful day. The sitting room opens out to the contemporary extension’s sleek kitchen/diner, which features shaker-style cabinetry and a spacious breakfast bar, along with ample appliances, such as an American-style fridge/freezer and a wine chiller; the designated chef will find cooking delicious meals a breeze here! Settle down to a tasty meal at the dining table whilst you plan your holiday itinerary or take your meal outside to the fabulous rear garden, which also houses a handy outdoor shower and wetsuit hanger. The main house hosts four of the five superb bedrooms on the first floor, including: two marvellous king-sizes with en-suite shower rooms and two twins containing zip/link beds, offering flexible sleeping arrangements. The bedrooms in the main house also enjoy access to a nearby bathroom, an impressive space enjoying a rainfall, walk-in shower, along with a luxurious, roll-top bath; the ground floor also hosts a fantastic wet room, ideal for preventing those morning queues! Those seeking a little more privacy will be pleased to find another king-size with an en-suite in the annex. Porthilly Greys is located less than 200 meters from Porthilly Cove set on the Camel Estuary, so you can enjoy fun in the sun and sand without the need to travel far. The nearby Porthilly Farm sells a mouth-watering array of mussels or oysters, which you can bring home to rustle up delectable, seafood dishes with, or, if you’re not feeling up to cooking, venture into Rock to find ample eateries and pubs for you to dine in! Spend some time in Rock and make the most of its stunning beach with its water-based activities, before boarding a ferry to Padstow, where the fascinating attractions of the National Lobster Hatchery and Prideaux place can be found, along with access to the South West Coastal Path. This part of Cornwall still has so much waiting to be seen, with Polzeath and Wadebridge being found nearby and offering plenty to do, along with the fantastic locations of Bodmin Moor, Newquay, St Austell and many more resting further afield. Whisk your loved ones away for a break they won’t forget and book a stay at the magnificent Porthilly Greys.

Rock is an attractive seaside community located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel, near the famed port town of Padstow, which is easily accessible by a regular ferry service. The summer residence of royalty and celebrities, offering first-rate restaurants and high-end shopping, the true appeal is the variety of activities available, including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, and fishing. Keeping with the athletic motif, the neighbouring St Enodoc golf course is regarded as one of the best in the country. With so many world-class beaches within a short distance, it's simple to see why Rock is so popular.

Wow: it has been renovated and restored to a high level whilst retaining a relaxed and casual feel - perfect for holidays. Having two lounges, one modern and one traditional in character was both appealing and useful with 10 family members able to spread out and do different things. We loved the bifold doors extending the kitchen area out into the garden so those on cooking duty could chat to those relaxing on the patio. We were all in agreement we need to stay for longer than a weekend next time.

My only negative was there was no welcome pack with details of local restaurants, details about the house which is unusual. Well kitted out would have liked more sun!
