Snaptrip says

Gurnard's Cottage in Cornwall receives high praise for its cosy atmosphere, thoughtful touches, and prime location for coastal walks and local amenities. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, cleanliness, and the peaceful setting. The welcoming gestures, such as fresh flowers and cream teas, contribute to the overall positive experience, although there are occasional mentions of minor issues.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests find the cottage spotless, with fresh flowers adding to the clean and welcoming atmosphere. However, a few guests mention issues with cleanliness, such as human hair and spider webs, which slightly lower the score.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the sea, coastal paths, and local pubs. The rural setting offers peace and fantastic views, making it an ideal base for exploring Cornwall's attractions.

Guests report the cottage as comfortable, with luxurious bedding and a cosy wood burner. The quiet environment contributes to a restful stay, although a few guests find the lounge furniture and bathroom could be improved for comfort.

The cottage is well-equipped with essentials and extras like a washing machine and wood for the fire. Some guests mention issues with hot water and Wi-Fi, and one noted the need for maintenance in the garden area.

Guests frequently mention the thoughtful touches such as cream teas, dog treats, and fresh flowers. These gestures are highly appreciated, although it should be noted that such gifts, while common, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Seaward facing with stunning views across Gurnard's Head towards the Atlantic coastline, this characterful granite cottage nestles in the working farm hamlet of Treen, three quarters of a mile from Zennor and within six miles of sublime St Ives. The ground floor entrance leads into a modern kitchen, through to the quaint sitting room with ceiling beams and exposed granite walls as well as a superb fireplace with wood burner. A second door then leads into the sunroom, opening into the gravelled courtyard patio, the perfect spot for a nightcap. On the first floor you will find the pretty main bedroom is comfy and cosy with exposed stone wall and also the single room perfect for a child or adult. There is an open garden at the front which has a bench and also a tap for muddy paws or sandy toes. The Cornwall Coast Path is paces away. Ten minutes walk away, accessed by scrambling across rocks, lies sheltered, sandy Treen Cove, with its towering ruined copper mine. The end one of four old cottages within a small cluster of properties, Gurnard's Cottage has romantic charm, with its tranquil situation also attracting serious walkers, artists, photographers and writers. Neighbouring dairy cows idle by twice daily, and a renowned pub restaurant is a short stroll up the lane. Zennor is a tiny village snuggled in a craggy valley of moorland nooks and rocky hills, scattered with footpaths and antiquities including Zennor Quoit and nearby Chysauster Settlement. It is home to a gift shop, cafe and ice cream shop and church with its own legendary mermaid - nearby is the ancient Tinner’s Arms pub. Cornwall's historic mining landscape lies nearby, including the spectacular Crown Mines at Botallack. A tranquil cottage in an outstanding location, perfect for couples or a small family.

St Ives is a seaside town and former commercial fishing port in Cornwall. Previously the town was dependant on fishing but over time has now become primarily a popular seaside resort, although the harbour is still there and fisherman come and go with their daily catch. The town was also renowned for the number of artists, the beauty of the place was an attraction and now the Tate Gallery sits on the outskirts of the town. There are shops, eateries, galleries and lots more within the town itself. The beaches at Porthminster and Porthmeor are sandy and great for water sports.

Isolated enough to catch sea views and the clear night sky, yet an excellent gourmet pub just around the corner. Lots of thoughtful little touches like a cream tea tray on arrival and fresh cut flowers throughout the house and logs ready for the wood burner. Although we have a dog and take him away with us, we don’t like visiting properties that are obviously dog-friendly. For instance, we have stayed in places where the doggy smell is evident as soon as you open the door. However, Gunard’s Cottage was spotlessly clean. Not allowing the dogs on the furniture or upstairs means that the cottage strikes the balance of welcoming furry friends and maintaining a clean and comfortable cottage for humans, too. We have already booked our return!

Cottage is warm and cosy with comfortable beds, spotlessly clean, very well equipped, warm and cosy. Lovely finishing touches with fresh cut flowers in lounge, kitchen and bedroom and a starter kit for the wood burner. Although we had a very wet and windy week we felt very safe and secure in the cottage. Beautiful location, very quiet and peaceful with a small herd of neighbouring cows. I loved the stable door with views to the sea. We would definitely like to stay here again.

The little gestures added the personal touch loved having fresh flowers in the rooms. The only criticism is the bathroom it was cold and uninviting - one damp evening I came across slugs inside. I think it needs revamping with under floor heating. Overall though it’s a nice little holiday cottage.
