Guests praise its cleanliness, charming rustic features, and the warm welcome from hosts. The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and beautiful countryside views, though some guests note the narrow access lanes. Its proximity to beaches and towns is appreciated.
The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable, with a spacious bedroom and efficient log burner. However, some guests mention low beams and steep stairs, which could affect comfort for taller individuals or those with mobility issues.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-appointed kitchen and comfortable living area. Criticisms include the lack of a microwave, small TV, and slow internet, which suggest room for improvement in modern amenities.
Guests frequently mention thoughtful touches such as a handwritten note, bubbles on ice, and doggy treats. While these gestures are warmly received, it is politely noted that such personal touches, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

We had a super stay here. The cottage was lovely with everything we needed including wonderful views and a very welcome wood burning stove which we enjoyed snuggling in front of, especially our dog! The homemade Devon cream tea was a wonderful surprise on our arrival, thank you very much.

If you want a peaceful getaway Thr Hideaway is perfect. Loved the quirkiness - small cottage windows, beamed low ceilings and uneven floors. The garden was idyllic with views over the pond to the hills beyond. Even though the cottage is right next to a narrow lane, hardly any cars drove past. Beware of the steep stairs to the bedroom, low ceilings downstairs (it was perfect for me and my husband, Iâm 5â2â and he is 5â5â). Beware, the cottage is also surrounded by very narrow lanes with blind bends. Saying that we never encountered a vehicle coming the other way as the cottage is quite remote. Otters Saint Mary was a 5 minute drive away, Sidmouth was 20 minutes away. Would highly recommend The Hideaway and would consider returning in the future.

Total tranquility save for the birdsong. Lovely grounds with a garden and pond. Fantastic walking right from the doorstep, perfect for dogs. Only minutes away from any facilities too. The very narrow surrounding lanes might not be every driverâs cup of tea but we had no problems. The cottage is ancient but has been wonderfully modernised. The owners Nicki and Ben are very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay, wished it could have been longer, fabulous weather was just a bonus!
