Crediton awaits just a few miles away, where you can find ancient monuments, including the Church of the Holy Cross and the Grade II listed Crediton Parish Church. From here, you can also embark on the Tarka Trail, a walking and cycling path weaving through the tranquil landscapes of the area. For an interesting day out, head to Tiverton, home to the National Trust's Knightshayes Country House, a 19th-century stately home with a wonderful gardens and grounds and the historic Grand Western Canal. A delightful, traditional village set between Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks in rural mid-Devon. The mid-Devon location leaves you spoilt for choice with moors, beaches and stunning Devon countryside to explore. This peaceful village is a great spot for a relaxing holiday with its 16th century pub and convenient spar shop. Lapford is an ancient village at it's heart - its origins can be traced back to the Iron Age Celts and it was mentioned in the Domesday Book. Lapford's playing field provides a great open space for ball games and there is a childrens playground. Lapford train station offers access to the many nearby charming mid-Devon towns and villages. The cosmopolitan city of Exeter with its wonderful architecture lies within 30 minutes driving distance. The nearest well-stocked town is Crediton just 9 miles away and a 20 minute drive.
