About this property

Sundial is an imposing property with glorious panoramic views over Braunton, the Taw Estuary, and the North Devon Coast. The house is within walking distance of bustling Braunton and it’s just a short drive to an array of award-winning surf beaches. It’s the perfect destination for a holiday, a large family gathering, or a special occasion with friends. What strikes visitors as they enter this gorgeous property, is the sheer space on offer so whether you want to all gather together to socialise or you want quiet time to unwind, Sundial has it all. Choose from the warm and welcoming sitting room with plenty of seating, a woodburning stove, and Smart TV, a great space to relax in, or take a seat in the inviting snug with sofas and another woodburning stove, which forms a delightful focal point to the room and is somewhere you can imagine spending lots of time catching up on the day’s adventures. Alternatively, there is a fantastic games room complete with table tennis, pool, and air hockey, to keep you entertained for hours. When it’s time to eat, then the resident chef will be delighted with the amply fitted kitchen/diner which has everything needed to produce hearty meals for the holiday party with an elegant dining area, all ready to host formal dinner parties and informal breakfasts and brunches. If the Devon sun is shining down, then make your way out to the gardens which as well as lawns, a barbecue, and a patio area has a fabulous summerhouse, the perfect spot for some alfresco entertaining. There is even an outdoor shower here! After a day of exploring and socialising, you’ll be ready for bed, so take your pick from five wonderfully-appointed bedrooms, featuring a tucked away double bedroom, a double bunk bedroom that sleeps four, a king-size master suite with far-reaching views, and a stunning en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath, a super-king-size (zip/link) and a further king-size. There is no better place to wake up in the morning than Sundial, where you can enjoy a full breakfast together, either in the kitchen/diner or outside, and plan your day's activities. Stroll into Braunton, which has a great selection of shops and eateries, and because this is in the heart of the North Devon Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty, there are plenty of walks and trails to enjoy, with some great bird and wildlife to spot along the way, as well as the South West Coastal Path, which also offers some stunning scenery along the Tarka Trail. Check out the neighboring beaches, including Saunton Sands, which offers three miles of golden sand, Croyde Bay, which is renowned among surfers, and Woolacombe Bay. An amazing adventure awaits at Sundial.

Braunston is an attractive village just 2 miles from Rutland's market town of Oakham (markets on Wednesdays and Fridays), and 6 miles from Uppingham (market on Fridays) famous for its public school and its most famous pupil Stephen Fry. Braunston has two local pubs, The Old Plough and the Blue Ball (which is the oldest pub in Rutland) both offering first-rate food and ale. Rutland is England's smallest county and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Rutland hosts England's largest man-made lake, Rutland Water, where you can enjoy several activities including fishing, birdwatching, walking, horse riding, cycling, sailing and windsurfing. For children, in addition to cycling, there is an adventure playground, a climbing wall and Bugtopia which has giant insects and exotic reptiles. Braunston is 17 miles from Leicester home to King Richard III's grave and visitor centre, and 14 miles from the Georgian town of Stamford (home to Middlemarch) which has a charming shopping area. Oakham and the surrounding areas have numerous fine restaurants, takeaways and public houses to suit all tastes. Braunston is a wonderful location for exploring this scenic area.

Perfect for a family holiday. The owners were extremely accommodating and Kerry our contact at the cleaning company who manage things was fantastic. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
