About this property

Butterwell Barn is a superbly presented and very well-equipped dog-friendly holiday home. Situated in a peaceful rural location, just a 10 minute-drive from Dartmouth’s waterfront, boutique shops and restaurants, as well as the stunning Start Bay coastline and beaches, the barn offers spacious and very comfortable, reverse-level accommodation for up to eight guests.

This 19th Century Victorian barn retains much of its original character including high vaulted ceilings, beautiful oak beams and stonework.

The first floor living/dining/kitchen area is particular huge, offering a fabulous space for entertaining and relaxing with friends or family. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, with a Rangemaster cooker, and fabulous marble worktops, whilst the comfortable living area has three double settees and a wall-mounted TV with Sky Q.

The accommodation offers flexibility to family groups or parties of up to eight guests. There are four en suite bedrooms in total, all on the ground floor. The rooms are light and tastefully furnished, with delightful mosaic tiled flooring and high quality bath/shower rooms. At either end of the barn is a spacious ‘master’ room with super-King size bed – each en suite features a bath with rainhead shower (over). Two further bedrooms each have ‘zip-and-link’ super-King size beds that can be split on request to create 3' single beds. The en suite shower rooms to these rooms each have a large walk-in shower.

Outside there is plenty of parking for up to four cars plus a substantial stone terrace with garden table, sun loungers and large firepit/barbecue!

This fabulous property is perfect for extended family parties, two families holidaying together or up to four couples looking for a special break in delightful surroundings.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the stunning Start Bay coastline, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many popular events such as the annual Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth Food Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This historic town boasts interesting landmarks, such as Dartmouth Castle, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and the National Trust’s Greenway House just a short ferry ride away. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the rolling countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat or ferry trip across to Kingswear, on to Brixham, or down the river to the village of Dittisham. For those seeking sandy beaches, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular beaches just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.

Equipped with everything you could possibly think of, beautiful furnishings, amazing kitchen, gorgeous bedrooms with very comfortable beds and hot powerful showers. Immaculately clean throughout. The finishing touches of fresh flowers on the table and bedrooms, homemade cake and scones and the table set on arrival made it feel a real home from home. Dogs are also made very welcome with their own sofa and a basket of towels. Thank you Gail and Phil for making us feel so welcome. We had an amazing holiday and wish we could have stayed longer. We would love to come back another year.

Well equipped and very comfortable with loads of space for a large group. Impressed with how well it was stocked with the basics, like washing powder etc, as well. Before we arrived we were sent a great booklet that told you all about the property and the surrounding area so we hit the ground running. The host also kept in touch at every stage to ensure we had the best holiday experience. Will definitely go back when we next visit Devon.
