We’ve stayed in many properties around Kingswear & Dartmouth over the last 30 years and this is our favourite! Beautiful house, fantastic views of the River Dart and the Steam Train that ran right outside the garden and of course my favourite ferry. Would definitely like to return.

It was well equipped, nicely decorated and very very clean. I was a little bit hesitant about the placement of the cottage when I was looking at it online being so close to the steam trainline and the higher ferry crossing, but we decided to just go with it. I can honestly say that neither were a problem to us. The train doesn't start until after 10am and finishes soon after 5pm. When it passes it’s fine - when we were in the house we enjoyed watching it pass. The higher ferry also wasn’t too much of a problem. We often went across to Dartmouth as a foot passenger and that was really handy. We didn’t have to queue for long in the car if we arrived back when there was a queue for the ferry - if we could see where the ferry was we often drove down the other side of the road. I would suggest that anyone staying here should pop to one of the supermarkets before arrival (Aldi, Lidls, Sainsbury’s and Food Warehouse) to get some essentials such as milk, bread, tea and coffee etc. There are no shops particularly nearby. Whilst the little touch of a bottle of wine and longlife milk was thoughtful on arrival, we don’t drink and we couldn’t have shared this with our children. The owners might want to bear this in mind for future people staying in the accommodation. You could see the cottage so well from the riverside at Dartmouth and it even gets a mention on the paddlesteamer cruise on the river when you pass by! The views from the cottage are also so beautiful. Sitting outside first thing in the morning or in the evening is just so peaceful. At times I couldn’t quite believe how lucky we were to be staying there. I would absolutely recommend this accommodation - this is by far one of the best we have stayed in. Thank you!

Britannia Cottage is the very best. Totally fantastic and perfect in every way. No criticism at all and that is a first for me. I think if I could buy any cottage in the Uk then this will be it. We wish we could have stayed forever.
