Harbourfield in Salcombe is praised for its beautiful views, comfortable setting, and convenient location. Guests enjoyed the outdoor decks and the property's amenities, including a table tennis table and an Aga cooker. While some guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the house's charm and the responsiveness of the staff to issues were appreciated.
Guests have mentioned cobwebs, a dirty kitchen floor, and food splatters, indicating room for improvement in cleanliness. However, the property was also described as comfortable and well-equipped, suggesting that the issues were not widespread.
The property's location is highly praised for its stunning views and proximity to local amenities. The hill's steepness was noted, but overall, the location contributed positively to the guests' experiences.
Comfort was generally well-received, with the property described as large and comfortable. However, some guests mentioned uncomfortable mattresses and a squeaky bed, which detracts slightly from the overall comfort score.
Facilities like the table tennis, parking, and well-equipped kitchen were appreciated, but guests also reported blunt knives, chipped glasses, and a lack of cupboard space. Maintenance issues such as a lumpy mattress and a slow oven were also noted.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

We are fitter now due to the walk uphill from the town! We enjoyed eating in town, The Crab Shed was great. We swam in the outdoor swimming pool. One of the main reasons why I booked Harbourfield was the fact that it has an Aga, but it wasn't switched on and we had to use the alternative electric cooker. I was disappointed. If the Aga is going to be off, because it's summer, and too hot in the kitchen then the information on the internet should say. I was pleased that I had brought food from home as advised by Waitrose Weekend newspaper as the 2 food shops, Co-op and Spar in Salcombe are limited.

The accommodation was as described and worked well for two families. The parking is quite tight, fine for our small car but might be tricky with a big car! All in all, a great stay, would recommend.

The house is comfortable, clean and well equipped and well located in Salcombe, though a walk uphill from the town centre/harbour! I offered to cook us a roast chicken on the Sunday as restaurants busy, (book well in advance for evenings but lunchtimes easier to book once there) and found the oven very slow to heat up with just the fan but got there in the end with addition of top and bottom heating! The property has been let since 2004 it seems from visitors book and maybe the oven needs a professional clean?! It was great to have the parking for our 2 small cars. The outside deck areas were nice. We were lucky with the weather. I know Salcombe well and my friends enjoyed it all, the coastal walking, the beach, the ferries, the shops and restaurants in the town and areas around.
