The house is praised for its facilities, including a well-stocked kitchen and garden equipment. Some guests experienced issues with appliances and suggested minor maintenance, but these do not detract significantly from the overall positive experience.

While some guests were delighted by welcome gestures such as a Christmas hamper and a vase of roses, there is not enough consistent information across reviews to accurately score thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary.

About this property

Homefield House is set in a private cul-de-sac in the centre of idyllic Thurlestone village. The house itself is within just a few yards of the Village Inn pub and stores/post office, whilst the famous 18-hole links golf course is around 1/4 mile away. There are a number of popular sandy beaches nearby, whilst the famous sailing waters of Salcombe are within a pleasant 10-15 minute drive. From the driveway, two steps lead down across the front terrace to the front door, which opens into the hallway. A very spacious and sociable L shaped lounge provides a comfortable seating area with a wonderful feature open fire place and double sofas. Double French doors lead out to the terrace and the garden beyond. Towards the kitchen is another seating area with sofas and occasional furniture. The country style kitchen is very well equipped with a full range of appliances and dining table for eight. This leads through to a separate utility, with laundry appliances and additional cloakroom with w.c and wash-hand basin. Four bedrooms in total. On the ground floor is the master bedroom with super King size bed, walk-in dressing area with fitted wardrobes and large en suite with bath, power shower, two wash-hand basins and w.c. On the first floor are three further bedrooms; a large double with King sized bed and en suite bathroom with bath, shower (over) wash-hand basin and w.c. Bedrooms three and four are twin rooms, each with two single beds, wardrobe and drawers. In addition to the en suites is a family bathroom with bath, hand-held shower, wash- hand basin and w.c. Outside is a lovely terrace with wooden patio furniture, leading to a mature good-sized garden. Off road parking for up to four cars and Wi-Fi is provided.

The coastal village of Thurlestone is popular with both beach-goers and watersports enthusiasts, with the popular sandy beaches of Thurlestone and South Milton Sands within walking distance. Thurlestone boasts an 18-hole links golf course, a 13th century church, a traditional pub, a post office and the ‘Voyage Spa’, where visitors can enjoy spa treatments or afternoon tea. Just a 10-15 minute drive away is the sailing town of Salcombe, and the fishing village of Hope Cove is also a short drive away, or can be reached on foot via the South West Coast Path, offering stunning panoramic sea views.

Needs a little TLC re the tumble dryer as it didn’t work very well suggest it’s the vent which is perhaps restricted. The settees are now well worn and should be replaced. The slab edging to the driveway needs reattaching in places as some slabs are missing or loose. Though, overall we really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back.

The house is very well-equipped and spacious, with a lovely big garden which the children particularly enjoyed. The location is great, with a choice of beautiful beaches nearby and the village pub with excellent food right next door. We hope to be back!
