Guests say

Guests consistently praise the Higher Whiddon Farm Whiddon Well cottage for its comfortable and well-equipped accommodation, set in a peaceful and scenic Devon location. The hosts, Becky and Chris, are frequently mentioned for their warm and helpful nature. The presence of animals, including horses, adds to the charm. While the single bathroom and the narrow access road were noted, these points did not detract significantly from the overall positive experience.

The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews noting it as clean and well-maintained. There are no significant reports of cleanliness issues, suggesting that guests are generally very satisfied with the standard of hygiene.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquility, with easy access to Dartmoor and nearby towns. Some guests mentioned the narrow country lanes as challenging, but this does not seem to have a major impact on their overall appreciation of the setting.

Comfort is frequently mentioned positively, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable. A few guests noted the benefit of an additional bathroom or en-suite, and a creaky bed, but these comments were minor compared to the overall comfort experienced.

Facilities are generally regarded as well-equipped and adequate for a pleasant stay. Some guests suggested improvements such as a lock on the bathroom door and an upstairs toilet. The mention of a well-stocked kitchen and the provision of logs for the wood burner indicate good maintenance.

While guests express gratitude for the hospitality and personal touches, such as the Christmas decorations, there is no explicit mention of gifts. Therefore, it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness based on gifts, and the score is set to null.

Great location and a lovely warm cottage to come back to. The bed was comfy and the atmosphere lovely. Well situated for the moor and the main roads.

Coastal places to visit were a pleasant 30 -45 minutes drive away, although you can drive to Dartmoor in just 5 -10 minutes, where you can find some lovely safe dog walks. Would recommend bringing initial supplies ie milk etc as on arrival there is no quick access to a shop. The owners are lovely people who you can see love their life with their horses and family pets. We were made to feel very welcome with our two dogs. All in all we had a fabulous holiday and this cottage was a perfect central place to stay in Devon.
