Once you have spent some time relaxing indoors, why not wander outside to the lawned garden, your chance to take in the location at its finest. For adventurous types there is a public slipway onto the tidal River Tamar (with free parking) 0.5 miles away. This is suitable for the launching of canoes, SUP’s etc.. Bere Alston has village stores, post office / bakery, chemist, butchers and pub. Also a pleasant hours walk from the daffodil Shed there is a pleasant riverside pub The Olde Plough at Bere Ferrers. Situated in the beautiful Tamar Valley AONB and West Devon mining UNESCO world heritage site, there are plenty of countryside walks, along quiet lanes and numerous footpaths. Many walks can be taken from the Daffodil Shed doorstep. Just upstream from Bere Alston on the river Tamar is Morwellham Quay, a tiny harbour where half the world’s copper travelled through in the 1860s, and which is now a popular visitor attraction telling the story of copper mining through history. Here there is also the renowned Ship Inn. Close to the Daffodil Shed there are two popular National Trust properties, Cotehele and Buckland Abbey. Trains run between Bere Alston and Plymouth, on the picturesque Tamar Valley line, following the river for much of the route. A modern place to stay with your loved ones.
