Park up, unpack, and make yourself at home in your lovely new lodgings. Whip up a romantic dinner for two in the well-equipped kitchenette, before you enjoy your meal at the dining table, or even alfresco on the outdoor decking whilst you soak in your tranquil new surroundings. Savour a glass of your favourite vintage in the enclosed garden, where you can make a toast to your holiday before you eventually treat yourself to a rejuvenating shower on your way to a well-earned rest in the inviting king-sized bedroom. If you can tear yourself away from your peaceful new home, head out to explore what your local surroundings have to offer. From here, head west to the popular National Trust spot of the Cerne Giant, before you head north to get up close and personal with wildlife at the Badger Watch wildlife park. If you want to make a day of it, the county town of Dorchester offers eager tourists an opportunity to learn about the settlement’s history at the Dorset Museum, traverse the scenic grounds of the idyllic Borough Gardens, or even spend time learning more about ancient Egypt at The Tutankhamun Exhibition. For the ultimate romantic getaway to Dorset, make sure you book a stay at Spindleberry Hut.

Only eight miles from Dorchester, in the charmingly called Piddle Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is the charming West Dorset village of Piddletrenthide, which is off the main road on a private track. The community is surrounded by beautiful nature, has easy access to public footpaths that are full of wonderful walks, and has a store where one can buy necessities. It's interesting to note that the youthful Thomas Hardy assisted the architect design the parish church. The world-famous Cerne Abbas giant is only 2 miles from this gorgeous region, making it an excellent starting point for visiting, and Dorchester, a bustling market town with a variety of intriguing shops, restaurants, and museums, is highly recommended. Weymouth, a family-friendly beach town, the Jurassic coast, and majestic Portland, the site of the 2012 Olympic sailing competitions, are all easily accessible. This is a fantastic vacation spot all year round because Bournemouth and Poole are only 40 minutes away.

You can tell the hosts have taken great care in making it cosy and thinking of everything you will need. The area is very picturesque and the roads are well maintained through the villages, so the drives are easy.

Views of rolling fields whilst sat on the veranda of the shepherd's hut, or sitting by the firepit eating bbq'd food from the supplied bbq, followed by an out door bath looking up at the stars! And that's just the outside! The inside of the shepherd's hut is very inviting and homely, and perfect for that quiet weekend away with your partner. I highly recommend staying here, and will definitely be back.

Perfect base to go off exploring Dorset wildlife. Hut is well presented, with all components to a high standard. It is quirky & we enjoyed that. Thoughtful touches by owners eg: tea/coffee & condiments, with small amount of local provisions to buy.
