Guests say

Frodos Cottage in Templecombe is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and the host's thoughtfulness, with guests feeling welcomed and often returning. The peaceful location is ideal for exploring Somerset and Dorset, and the garden is a highlight. Some guests noted limited cooking facilities and parking, but these were minor compared to the overall positive experience.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as clean and well-kept, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The cottage's location is appreciated for its quietness, proximity to local sights, and the convenience for walkers, despite some concerns about parking and road speeds.

The majority of guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, although a few mention that some furniture could be more supportive and the kitchenette may be small for those who love cooking.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a beautiful garden and a new bathroom mentioned. However, some guests find the cooking facilities and Wi-Fi to be areas that could be improved.

The host's thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating the welcoming touches such as flowers, wine, and chocolates. It is noted that such gifts enhance the stay, though they may vary and are not guaranteed.

About this property

A charming single-storey, self-contained annexe, tucked away to the rear of the owner's attractive home in a quiet lane in the village of Henstridge. Converted from a former stable, Frodos is well furnished throughout and offers comfortable, well-equipped holiday accommodation. The property boasts a delightful large patio area, perfect for dining alfresco, with shared use of a lovely mature three quarter acre garden. Fine countryside walks can be enjoyed nearby and the cottage provides a marvellous centre for touring, with a host of National Trust properties such as Stourhead House and Gardens and Montacute House only a short drive away. With Shaftesbury, Salisbury, Bath and the Dorset coast also easily accessible, this is a great base for exploring this beautiful area.

Henstridge lies in the extreme south of Somerset and it's parish is separated from Dorset by Landshire Lane. Its name comes from the Olde English word 'henst', meaning 'horses' and translates as: "the ridge where stallions are kept".  The ridge is the narrow strip of Jurassic limestone that runs through Henstridge and the nearby villages of Yenston and Whitechurch. Henstridge has an attractive church, which was consecrated in 1332. Unusually it has four altars. The porch was added in the 14th Century and the north aisle was built in the 15th Century. Nearby, you can explore a number of properties in the care of the National Trust, such as Stourhead House and Gardens and the historic town of Shaftesbury. Britain's most famous stone circle, Stone Henge, is only a short drive away and the Dorset coast offers the best of coastline and countryside.

Bottle of wine and biscuits was a lovely touch on our arrival. It was nice to sit outside in the lovely garden when the weather was good. Great location being on the Somerset and Dorset border basically a hour away from places to visit whether it be in any direction. Easy on street parking, lovely walks nearby, a great base to explore Somerset and Dorset.

Ros was an amazing hostess, anything we needed was provided. Perfect for my Husband and I, we stayed for 10 nights, there is a little patio where you can sit and have a glass of wine in the evening, unfortunately we didn't get to do that due to the bad weather all while we stayed! The roads are easy to drive into Sherborne and other Towns on your list whilst staying there. The little shop across the road was handy, as was The Virginia Ash Restaurant and the Bird in Hand Pub. I Would highly recommend this property, we will certainly be booking again! Thank you Ros & Sykes!

Nice to have semi private corner of the patio in shared garden.Basic cooking facilities but nice local pub with good menu in the village. Good location near busy A30 but still very quiet.
