Rainsbury House is highly praised for its comfort, cleanliness, and thoughtful touches, including a welcome pack with homemade cakes and treats for dogs. The property is well-equipped, ideal for large family gatherings, and offers a peaceful location with beautiful countryside and nearby lake walks. Guests appreciate the secure garden, the games room, and the attentive hosts.
Guests consistently mention the property's spotless condition and the fresh, clean linens provided. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.
The property's peaceful setting in beautiful Exmoor countryside, with proximity to local walks and villages, is frequently commended. The rural charm and nearby Wimbleball Lake are highlights, although the more remote location may not suit everyone.
Numerous reviews highlight the comfortable beds and pillows, spacious rooms, and cosy atmosphere, even during inclement weather. The property's ability to accommodate different generations and provide quiet spaces is also noted.
The property is celebrated for its well-equipped kitchens, multiple bathrooms, and additional amenities like stair gates and dog facilities. The games room is a particular hit, and the maintenance of the property is well-regarded.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests delighted by the generous welcome packs. While these treats are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches, though common, are at the hosts' discretion.
The Barn and Barn Owl Cottage are let as one large unit, sleeping up to thirteen people, with an interlinking door between the two properties so it is ideal for two families if privacy is required. The Barn sleeps up to eight, while the Barn Owl Cottage sleeps up to five, however most guests choose to use the two cottages as one, whilst making full use of the two fully-equipped kitchens and lounge areas. The accommodation is located six miles from two delightful Somerset market towns, Wiveliscombe and Dulverton, and only one mile from the Devon border. This rural idyll, set in 16 acres adjoining the stunning Wimbleball Lake, offers a wealth of facilities and opportunities to make the most of the surrounding area, making it a perfect stay for friends and family. The accommodation retains many original features, including exposed stonewalls throughout, which create a real sense of charm. All of the bedrooms are immaculately finished, beautifully combining antique furnishings with modern lamps and other thoughtful touches that will make you feel right at home. The kitchen is well-equipped and the living areas are super comfortable. You will also find a dining table in each kitchen for smaller, more relaxed dining opportunities. Not only do you get a peaceful private garden, you can also wander through the 16 acres of private pasture and woodland frequented by deer, badgers and other woodland creatures. Rainsbury land adjoins a secluded and wooded corner of Wimbleball Lake. You can walk straight out of your front door onto a 9-mile ramble or cycle around the lake and onto the moor, without ever seeing a car. If you are feeling more adventurous, the Activity Centre on the opposite side of the lake boasts sailing, cycle hire, kayaking, zorba balls, hi-wire assault course, an indoor climbing wall, archery and fly-fishing. For a calmer pastime, head to nearby Wiveliscombe, offering a selection of quaint amenities and the fascinating Cotleigh Brewery where you can sample award-winning local ales, or visit the picturesque little market town of Dulverton, which is blessed with great shops, restaurants and pubs. Rainsbury House has a great deal to offer groups of all ages.
Wiveliscombe is on the edge of the Exmoor National Park. It has shops and eateries and is around half an hour from beaches, and has walking all around. The coast is easily accessible, both Watchet and Weston-super-Mare are nearby and popular.

The welcome pack was more than generous and much appreciated. The owners were friendly and made sure we knew they were available if required, without being intrusive. A very pleasant holiday especially as the sun shone every day. Thank you.

Everything was so thoughtful, from the wonderful welcome cakes and wine to the dog treats for Chester! The property was so well stocked with everything we needed and the two living rooms meant that we could have a separate kids space which they loved! Thanks for making our stay so amazing!

Rainsbury House gave us the opportunity to holiday together in a beautiful part of Devon, providing 2 kitchens, 2 lounges, playroom and multiple bathrooms and bedrooms. The property and facilities are outstanding. The garden and adjoining field was secure for our dogs and children. We had a wonderful holiday.
