The Mill in Somerset is a charming and rustic holiday cottage, appreciated for its peaceful and beautiful farm setting. Guests have praised the friendly owners, the presence of farm animals, and the quaintness of the property. The surrounding countryside and the sound of the nearby stream provide a tranquil escape, with many finding it a perfect spot for relaxation and exploration of the area.
Most guests found The Mill to be spotlessly clean, with particular appreciation for its tidiness despite being pet-friendly. A few mentioned cobwebs and dust, but these seem to be minor compared to the overall positive feedback on cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to nature, and the nearby steam train adding to the charm. It serves as an excellent base for exploring Somerset and Devon, with guests enjoying the countryside and local walks.
The Mill is described as comfortable with a rustic charm. Some guests mentioned the beds and seating could be updated for enhanced comfort, and low doorways may not suit taller individuals. However, the overall sentiment is that the accommodation is cosy and inviting.
Facilities are generally seen as basic but adequate, with some guests suggesting improvements such as better mattresses and kitchen equipment. The presence of a washing machine and dryer was a bonus. A few maintenance issues were noted, but these did not significantly detract from the guests' enjoyment.
Guests felt welcomed by the owners' friendliness and the provision of essentials like tea, coffee, and milk. While some guests were delighted by the grocery essentials, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be provided on every occasion.
A stunning converted mill, full of character and charm and set on a bank alongside the stream with the original millstone still intact as a feature within the attractive farmhouse dining room, reminding guests of the buildings original purpose. This cosy cottage has a quirky layout with open plan living room with kitchen area on the ground floor, the hub for guests and with steps down to the lower ground floor, leading to the twin bedroom and bathroom. There are a couple of steps up from the living room to the very appealing dining room, which has a cosy feel and is an ideal room for family time, with steps out to the mill pond garden. The double bedroom is on the first floor and has lovely views out across the farm. An ideal cottage for couples or a grown up family, as the cottage is beside the mill pond and stream and the bedrooms are apart, on different levels. Note: This property is next to Refs. 915882, 915883 and 915884, together they sleep 21.
