While some minor issues are mentioned, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests planning to return.
The majority of guests found Alice Cottage to be clean and tidy, with only a few isolated comments suggesting room for improvement in deep cleaning and maintenance. The positive remarks far outweigh the negatives, indicating a high standard of cleanliness overall.
The cottage's location is frequently lauded for its peacefulness, proximity to Minehead, and the abundance of local walks and attractions. Its rural yet accessible setting is a highlight for many visitors, contributing to a very high location score.
Comfort at Alice Cottage is generally well-regarded, with particular praise for the spaciousness and the comfortable king-size bed. Some guests, however, found the sofas and bath design less comfortable, slightly lowering the score in this category.
Facilities at the cottage are appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and secure garden. However, there are mentions of minor maintenance issues such as dishwasher problems and a lack of outdoor lighting, which have led to a slightly reduced score.
While many guests express gratitude for the welcome gifts and the cottage's charming touches, there is not enough consistent detail about the presence or quality of these gifts across the reviews to accurately score thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score is set to null.
This pretty, detached, thatched cottage is situated a mile from Minehead, on a tiny lane next to a ford which leads to Bratton. With heather hills and woodland all around, this is a magical place for couples or young families at any time of year. Take the path over a little bridge and step down through the back door into the kitchen, a well equipped space for preparing meals. Another step leads you down into the cosy sitting room with its wood burning stove and dining area. The two bedrooms share a smart bathroom (three steps down to the bathroom) with a bath sitting snugly under the eaves. You will sleep peacefully in the lovely double bedroom with its ancient curved walls and stained glass windows. Equally tranquil is the secluded enclosed garden at the back where you can spot wildlife around the fenced pond and eat alfresco. Walk the surrounding hills of the Vale of Porlock with their views to the sea, and maybe climb to Selworthy Beacon above the pretty National Trust village of Selworthy. For fun seaside traditions, head to Minehead or visit the hilltop castle at Dunster. Alice Cottage is perfectly situated for enjoying the lovely surroundings.
The popular seaside resort of Minehead occupies a wonderful sheltered spot beneath the dramatic North Hill, on the lovely West Somerset Coast. Angie was very friendly and helpful and answered our questions straight away. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed. The internet is a little hit and miss and that did affect the TV but it certainly wouldn't stop us staying here again. We had a very nice walk into Minehead through the woods and parks at the side of the cottage and we were ideally positioned to visit Dunster Castle, Porlock Weir and had a ride on the steam train to Watchet. We will definitely return

Beautiful thatched cottage with unique features from the stained glass windows to the lovely artwork and window dressings, The miniature door in the hall skirting board is delightful carrying on the "Alice in wonderland" theme to a tee. The only suggestion I could make would be to have an outside light at the side entrance for those who stay there on the dark days in winter but having said that, the property information does advise taking a torch, which we did, so it wasn't a big problem for us.
