Guests say

Stables Cottage in Melksham, Wiltshire, is a well-received holiday rental praised for its cleanliness, peaceful and scenic location, and comfortable accommodations. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches by the owners, including welcome gifts, and the property's suitability for both families and pets. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean, with several reviews highlighting its cleanliness. A few isolated comments mentioned dust and a damp issue, but these appear to be exceptions rather than the norm.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, wildlife sightings, and proximity to local attractions. The scenic views and peaceful setting contribute to a positive experience, although one review mentioned difficulty in finding the entrance.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable, spacious, and well-furnished. The presence of a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds are often mentioned, although a few guests noted that some furniture could be updated.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and extra touches like games and books. However, some guests noted the need for better maintenance, such as fixing a dripping tap and updating kitchen blinds, which affects the score.

The owners' thoughtfulness is frequently commended, with mentions of welcome packs including wine, fruit, and flowers. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is politely noted that such gifts, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

The welcome gifts were a lovely touch. It was a lovely peaceful setting. Loved watching the ducks each day in the pond. We were also lucky with the weather.

The only negative was there were no scissors for cutting open packets, there were no oven bags provided, also noticed that someone had mentioned this previously even though the picture on sykes site showed them hanging from a peg in the kitchen, also previously reported some years ago were the blinds in the kitchen which could do with replacing as there are a lot of slats missing, would help with privacy, as there is public access past the house. The disabled rails leading from the kitchen down to the lounge are also loose. Just a few adjustments would really help. Other than that we enjoyed our stay there was plenty to do in the surrounding areas

The property was in a stunning location removed from the main road being very peaceful, secluded and relaxing. Plenty of wildlife around. We arrived late on Friday and the owner came to check on us the following morning. We had a visit from a very friendly dog who was not disruptive in the least. The basics were provided on arrival (thanks!) and there was no lack of kitchen utensils and c ookware. The property is a good walk from Bowerhill & Melksham and I would not recommend that due to the busy roads. There is a bus stop outside the property entrance and on the other side of the road. If you need a taxi service I must recommend AAP Taxis who happily ferried us around. The property is near a bridleway so plenty of excuses to stretch your legs and there are also plenty of public footpaths nearby. In short a lovely property to get away too, if you want some peace and quite with the chance to explore thrown in too. We would come back again.
