Lower Cross is a well-regarded cottage in the Yorkshire Dales, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and stunning views. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, the warm welcome from the host, and the property's proximity to local attractions. The gardens are a highlight, with wildlife sightings adding to the charm. While some minor issues are noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests planning to return.
The cottage is consistently described as spotlessly clean, with numerous reviews highlighting its well-maintained state. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to guests' comfort and satisfaction.
The property boasts beautiful country views and is conveniently located for exploring local attractions, including the Brontë countryside. However, one review mentioned it being more of a suburb with a main road, suggesting the location may not meet everyone's expectations of a village setting.
Guests frequently mention the comfortable beds and the cosy, homely feel of the cottage. The spaciousness and warmth of the rooms are also noted, although one review mentioned a lack of a secure garden for dogs as a minor discomfort.
The cottage is praised for being well-equipped and having a well-kitted kitchen. However, some guests noted the absence of a smart TV, microwaveable dishes, and clear instructions for appliances, which suggests room for improvement in this category.
While guests have mentioned a warm welcome and a welcome basket with eggs and milk, there are not enough references to gifts or additional thoughtful touches to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

It felt very homely, comfortable & we thoroughly enjoyed it, especially watching the ever changing view from each of picture windows. Our favourite room was the sun lounge with the incredible vistas, and we enjoyed playing some of the games that were left for us. The cottage was nice & clean, and Barbara, the owner, was very helpful and accommodating. My wife, who is an author (Loretta Livingstone) added one of her co-written books (Historical Stories of Exile) to the well stocked library.

It had everything you could wish for. Barbara and Nick were very kind. The donkeys were an added bonus when we could feed them. Thank you so much.

The place was lovely and we genuinely appreciated our stay there. So quiet and fabulous views. The cottage has everything you need for a self catering holiday and is spic and span everywhere. Beautiful gardens back and front. We did visit lots of local places but unfortunately it rained quite a bit but didnât spoil our plans at all. Would highly recommend lower cross to everyone. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.
