Guests say

The Arches is a well-loved cottage praised for its stunning views, peaceful location, and cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate the warm welcome from the owners and the presence of farm animals, adding to the charm. The local pub and walking paths are highlights, contributing to a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The cottage is generally described as clean and tidy. There are no significant complaints about cleanliness, indicating that guests are satisfied with the standards maintained at the property.

The location scores highly with guests who love the stunning views, peaceful surroundings, and proximity to walking paths and local attractions. The remote setting adds to the charm, although the access roads are noted to be narrow.

Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with a homely feel. Some comments about the mattresses lacking support and the shower being poor suggest there is room for improvement, but overall, the comfort level is high.

Facilities are adequate, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and good WiFi. However, there are several suggestions for additional kitchen utensils and updates to the bathroom and cutlery, indicating that some aspects of the facilities could be enhanced.

The owners' thoughtfulness is evident in the warm welcomes and small touches like a bottle of wine and biscuits on arrival. While these gifts are appreciated, they are a kind gesture and may vary with each stay.

About this property

A superb, semi-detached barn conversion situated on a traditional hill farm in Farndale, two miles from Low Mills. Lovingly renovated with many features such as an arched window in the sitting room, exposed beams, and an open fire, The Arches offers superb accommodation decorated and furnished to an excellent standard. Walkers can step out from the farm into the open countryside and enjoy the many footpaths and trails, and mountain bikers are well catered for with the numerous tracks and bridleways. Kirkbymoorside, Hutton-le-Hole and Helmsley are all also within easy reach. A perfect base for a relaxing holiday. Note: The Arches can be booked with Ref 1392, together they sleep 16.

The stunning valley of Farndale is in the North York Moors National Park and in spring there is a spectacular display of daffodils along the side of the River Dove. The fields are divided by ancient dry stone walls and the narrow lanes wind around the spectacular valley. The lovely old market town of Kirkbymoorside is 10 miles away and has a good selection of shops and restaurants as well as a market every Wednesday, when the stalls are set out on the charming cobbled streets. Pickering is home to the North York Steam Railway and trains run from here to Grosmont along an 18-mile stretch of glorious countryside. Walkers have many trails and footpaths to follow and this is a fabulous area for a holiday at any time of the year.

It is a really lovely cosy cottage so very peaceful which was exactly what we were looking for. 3 comfortable bedrooms with plenty of wardrobes and cupboard space for clothes etc. Lots of walks in the area and close to Hutton Le Hole, Helmsley and the coast an easy drive away. We used to stand outside on an odd evening - it was so quiet not a thing to be heard - wonderful. Thank you for the welcome basket too enjoyed the wine very much . Only thing I would say was needed - especially for me - was a hairdryer as I usually wash my hair practically every day. We will be back and definitely recommend a stay at the Arches.
