      Friendly,helpful and knowledgeable owners who live on site.and are easily contacted. A road is close by that is not overly busy and cannot be heard from inside the property, other than that the property is located in a peaceful country side location a short distance from the National park. The cottage is well equipped and looks like its been recently updated,important points for us are comfortable beds,hot shower,cleanliness and being able to have a good night's sleep without disturbance,this cottage ticked all of those boxes and was quirky into the bargain! The rooms are laid out over three floors with two bedrooms on the top floor and the third on the ground floor along with the kitchen and shower room and comfortable lounge on the second floor,short staircases divide the floors. Because of its rural location transport is essential but we found it a great location for exploring the Yorkshire coast,York,Thirsk and the National park without too much driving. Would definitely recommend and book again.

      A perfect location and get away for those wanting to put away modern technology and enjoy the stunning countryside and time with the people you are on holiday with. The owners Gillian and John took good care of us. We had great walks, cycling and the pub at Lastingham had delicious food and a friendly atmosphere. Hutton le hole is a beautiful village. We enjoyed scrumptious ice cream from a lovely lady who runs the Deli. Yes we did have ice cream in February. Why not when your on holiday! Hot chocolate was also an option. Oh and the location is only approximately 15 minutes away from Dalby Forest. A great place to go. Cycling, walking, Go Ape and more. As you can tell we had a great time. A big thumbs up from us.

      A lovely cottage in an out of the way location.

      It has clearly been updated since the pictures online were taken. Good access to major routes to the coast and close enough to Helmsley to make eating out there possible. The facilities were really good and some unexpected extras ( milk, kitchen roll, tea and coffee) meant we could settle in straight away. We mainly used it as a base to explore the coast from and chose to eat out each night. But there were potsand pans etc available had we wanted to cook. The furniture was clean and comfortable enough for our needs. We stayed with 2 small dogs so it was great to have the little garden. We would definitely recommend and hope to return in the future.

      Comfortable and well equipped cottage.

      Unfortunately the water heater failed at the beginning of our stay (probably before we arrived) but was repaired the same day that we reported it so we were able to enjoy the excellent separate shower in the bathroom. Wombleton is a good base for Rievaulx Terrace and Abbey, Nunnington Hall and Helmsley, Pickering and Scarborough castles as well as the North York Moors Railway. There a handy circular walk past the pub and back down Page Lane for anyone with a dog (with 3 dog pooh bins). At dusk there are bats in Page Lane.

      We had a wonderful holiday in Peg's Cottage.

      A bonus was Tim, the friendly gardener, who was a mine of local information and very helpful. The cottage is compact but was more than big enough for the two of us and contained everything we needed (except oven gloves, but that was a minor point). The cottage is perfectly located to visit Helmsley, Thirsk, Kirkby Moorside, Pickering and seaside locations and the whole area is a foodie heaven! Thank you to the owner, Tonya and to the friendly gardener, Tim. A hugely enjoyable stay!
