    Holiday cottages in Selby

Considered to be a hidden gem in North Yorkshire, the historic market town of Selby is a great base for a memorable break. Home to a quintessentially British scenic town centre with fine dining restaurants, a mediaeval abbey, and a 15th century gatehouse, Selby is the perfect place to explore cultural attractions during the day and enjoy a great meal and warm atmosphere in the evening.

Once the leading mining area in the UK, today the pace of life in Selby is friendly and relaxed. With a population of less than 15,000, there is a strong community feeling and locals often know each other and will greet each other –and visitors –with a friendly smile.

At Snaptrip we offer an inviting range of holiday cottages in Selby. Our cottages have all kinds of facilities from hot tubs, to log fires, swimming pools, and spacious gardens. Our friendly customer support team can provide any guidance you need, and don't forget to ask for information on our latest offers and discounts.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Michael - Verified booking

      The perfect home from home.

The title really says it all, Little Acres is a real credit to the owners Anna & Adam. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm and wecoming cottage, fantastically appointed throughout. There was even a small hamper left for us, of wine, cake, chocolates and of course dog bisuits for a our four legged guest. A very thoughful gesture indeed and really kicked of our weekend break the right way. The cottage itself is lovely, kitchen is very well equipped, beds are super comfortable, showers and bath are fantastic and there is a large enclosed garden with a patio to relax in. Being winter, for us what was perfect, was coming home after a day in the cold and relaxing infront of the log burner. Safe to say, our dog abolsutely loved it with her bed right infront of the fire. The cottage itself is surrounded by countryside which makes for really quiet moonlit evenings, amazing sunrises and some beautiful scenery to amble around in. Location is fantastic, York being only 25 minutes away at most (perfect for the Christmas Markets), and is surrounded by small quaint villages and not forgetting some fantastic walks which were welcomely rcommened to us. Bishop wood being one we got lost in for hours! Perfect! There are lots of recommendations of places to eat and visit in the welcome book, well worth a look through if you haven't already planned your days there. Hosts are fantastic and really friendly, even went the extra mile to arrange flowers and prosseco on arrival for my partners birthday. Really couldn't do enough for us, but happily left us to our own devices. Honestly, if you are thinking about staying in this area, please give Little Acres some thought, you will not be disappointed at all!!

We come to York every year to visit family locally and we looking for somewhere to return to regularly, unfortunately this was not it.

The house was well located and a good size and price for what we needed. The welcome basket was a nice touch and we are thankful for that. The children enjoyed a few nice treats. However it was not clean. I had to buy some disinfectant to clean the toilet which was disgusting and also clean the basin and shower. The hob was filthy and I was glad we were not cooking at the property as we spent the evenings with family. There were only three bowls so we had to wash up one before the last person could have breakfast. The dishwasher looked like it was on its last legs so we were not keen to use it. Suggest buying a wipe clean table cloth as the grooves in the wooden table accommodate dirt and the placemats provided are stained. There are not enough seating for everyone to sit comfortably in the front room and watch the TV. The photo of the front garden is misleading as it’s just open and part of the car park area. The blurb to the cottage needs to mention the steep stairs and the fact that the first step is just outside the door to the main bedroom. I have dyspraxia and I was terrified I would come out of my bedroom and fall down the stairs. Disappointing from what we have experienced previously from Sykes and we will not be returning.

"Little Acres" is really a very superior property and we had an extremely enjoyable stay.

It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and also very quiet. We have never before stayed in a property where absolutely everything one might need was provided: at least that was the case for us. The owners; Adam and Anna, were very welcoming and friendly and while one was fully aware that they were there if needed they were in no way intrusive. As far as we were concerned they have the "recipe" for a successful business just right. The welcome pack was particularly appreciated. Our only "complaint" was that as we had planned a fairly full itinerary for the week we could not be at "Little Acres" to enjoy the place as we might have wanted, although a couple of evenings with a glass of wine in the sunshine on the patio listening to the sounds of nature were a delight. All we can add is - book this property!! - and were we ever to be looking for a rental in the York/Selby area in the future then "Little Acres" would certainly come top of the list.

Little Acres was easy to find and we had good communication with Anna and Adam prior to arrival.

The electronically operated gates, with a fob for opening whilst still in the car, were great and there was plenty of parking space. The cottage was in a good location with easy access to the A1(M) and York. The cottage was clean and tastefully furnished. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and we appreciated the digital showers. We did think a full length mirror and hooks for hanging coats in the hall would have made the cottage even better. We were grateful for the milk, wine, biscuits and sweets given to us by the owners. Cawood is a very interesting village with its grade 2 listed swing bridge, lovely river and remains of a castle. It was good to have the choice of three pubs and a handy shop/cafe/post office (called the Pickled Postie) where the staff were very welcoming. Overall we had a great holiday and would recommend it.

      We had a wonderful stay.

The cottage is well appointed and has everything we could have possibly needed. The items in the kitchen cupboards were clean which is not always the case in a holiday let. The cottage was comfortable and felt like a home from home. Although it was summer and quite hot, the property stayed cool and airy. I imagine it is cosy and warm in winter. We saw the owners regularly throughout the week and they were welcoming and friendly. We loved the garden and the surroundings - what a beautiful part of the world! We would love to return soon and we hope to make this a regular now!
