    Holiday cottages in Rosedale Abbey

The natural beauty of the Yorkshire Moors is on full view at Rosedale Abbey. A popular destination for walkers, the trails and winding streets that surround the village offer tranquillity and stunning vistas. Despite its name, there was never an Abbey on this site, but the belfry of a small Cistercian nunnery can be found in the churchyard.

At Snaptrip we have a wide variety of holiday cottages in Rosedale Abbey for every kind of break. Whether you require a swimming pool, a hot tub to soak in after exhilarating country walks, or an inviting garden where dogs and kids can run around, we have it all.

Our customer service team is always on hand to help you pick the right holiday cottage for that special occasion. Our friendly team can guide you through all the options. Don’t forget to ask about our latest offers and discounts –we're happy to help.

Damson Croft September 2023 This was our sixth visit to Damson Croft and once again it did not disappoint.

It is always clean, bright and warm and has everything you need for a quiet, comfortable break away from home. It seems to be one of the dwindling number of cottages for couples or small families who want to spend time together and not as a large party of folk. This time we spent a day at Rievaulx Abbey and one at the Yorkshire Air Museum. Our Whitby trip was to beautiful Pannett Park and museum, finishing off with a visit to the café with an indulgent snack! If you go to the park, remember to take something for the squirrels! We spent one day in Lastingham and visited St. Mary’s church and church yard; the village itself is well worth a walk around, especially early in the year when the lambs are about and if you like photography there are many places to shoot. On our return to Damson Croft we walked around the owners' wonderful garden and disturbed the fluffy chickens! Helmsley (about 14 miles away) is also worth exploring, with many small shops but be aware that Friday is market day and parking is limited to the main long stay car park near to the castle (so get there early). For breakfast or a snack, check out Barkers Café Bar just off the market square. Many thanks to Patsie and Rob (who are excellent hosts) for their kindness and concern when we had car exhaust problems (but we got home safely); and one of the first things we did was to book our 2024 stay at Damson Croft.

I stayed in Brookleigh last week and I was absolutely disgusted at what I saw.

The house was very very dirty and Dusty in every room. The bedroom room furniture in one double room was appalling, it was old dirty and smelly, the bed was so old with thick dust under it, the rug was old and like a rag. The bathroom was disgusting, bath scratched, dirty and smelly. Windows through out the house were filthy. The hoover full of dirt to the top, hair all wrapped around the brush head, that hadn't been used for months. My husband had to clean it all out so we could use it to clean the place up. The back garden was awful , very dangerous and boxes of rubbish laying about that hadn't been put out for the dustbin collection for weeks, wheelie bins outside were full when we arrived and smelt really bad. I have stayed in hundreds off cottages but none in this condition before. I personally think it needs one hell of a deep clean. Where the cottage is situated is brilliant and looks lovely until you walk through the door. We couldn't open any of the windows because they had been painted over so you couldn't open them. I hope that this will be looked into and that you will get back to me. I know that people had complained about the cottage as we were told my people in the actual village. We paid good money to stay there and we were so disappointed.

We took the time to explore the detailed welcome pack provided by Jodie and Richard, which included a link to their cottages' dedicated website.

This resource was packed with valuable information and proved to be incredibly helpful, allowing us to have a relaxing and memorable week as we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. While we had done some research beforehand, the welcome pack introduced us to more of the local region than we would have discovered on our own. The property is amazing, and although parking is on the street, it was close enough to easily transport our belongings into the cottage without any hassle. The cottage is finished to an extremely high standard, but it was the little touches that stood out the most. Cooking was a pleasure, with an easy-to-use stovetop and oven. While the kitchen has a small fridge, there is also a full-sized fridge with a freezer in the utility area, which was perfect for storing our champagne and wine. Locally, the pub next door was very cosy and offered affordable meal options. The friendly locals, who could clearly tell we weren’t from the area, were welcoming and made us feel completely at ease. We also visited Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay, both within an hour’s drive, as well as Castle Howard and Helmsley, which have some great shops to explore, even on weekdays. Anyone booking this property will not be disappointed

Hutton le Hole was again the perfect venue for our holiday.

Beautiful village, lovely people. Brookleigh cottage however didn't offer such a good experience. On our sixth stay there issues arose again which have been mentioned in previous feedback. On arrival we were unable to park at the cottage and had to wait for people to return to their vehicles before we could unpack our cars. This happened on several occasions during the week. Maybe better signage would help. The cottage is still very tired and in need of upgrading. The covers on the sofas are badly stained and we were pleased we brought our own throws to cover them. The bath and shower curtain are particularly grubby and off putting. Most concerning were the two occasions when the electricity supply to the cottage failed and we were unable to locate the fault on the fuse box. Calls to the emergency numbers went to voicemail and attempts to call us back failed as the village has no mobile coverage. Could a landline not be available for emergencies? Less important things that we have mentioned before about beds being uncomfortable and bedding being torn have not changed. Sadly our ideal holiday cottage turned out to be a bit of a nightmare this time.

This cottage is advertised as a luxury property, and it certainly is.

The space is so beautifully decorated, comfortable and very well-equipped with some very impressive mod-cons. There were some lovely hotel-style touches as well, such as fluffy robes and slippers for our use, and toiletries provided. The freshly laid eggs awaiting us on arrival made for delicious scrambled eggs the next morning. The honesty box for wine is a great idea - we brought our own stash up with us, otherwise we would have made full use of it! Unfortunately, the weather was rather unsettled, so we weren't able to take full advantage of the lovely garden, but we certainly imagined ourselves enjoying it in drier, sunnier times! We can tell that the owners, Peter and Sally, are really invested in and care about this cottage and it's so well situated right in the heart of a gorgeous village. Between the two tea rooms (serving delicious food!) and the local store, we really did want for nothing. Cannot recommend this lovely place more, and we would love to return. Thank you again for a truly wonderful week.
