An attractive stone and pantile cottage, situated in the pretty village of Cropton in the North York Moors National Park. Warm and welcoming, this grade II listed cottage has been lovingly restored to provide traditional, homely accommodation, ideal for families and friends wishing to explore this beautiful area. Many original features have been retained in this period property, such as beamed ceilings, salt cupboards and a stone fireplace. A narrow cottage staircase leads up to the two bedrooms.The cosy sitting room provides comfortable seating and a warming woodburning stove, perfect to relax around in cooler evenings, whilst the bathroom boasts a roll-top bath, perfect to soak in after a day's walking! Outside is a front lawned cottage style garden and a rear, enclosed garden, perfect to sit in with a morning coffee. The small village of Cropton has traditional village greens and a local inn and brewery, which serves real ales and food. Surrounded by stunning countryside and forestry, this cottage is just four miles from the market town of Pickering, which has excellent shops and restaurants, trout fishing, and is the terminus of the famous North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. On the doorstep is the popular Cropton Brewery, where you can have a tour and sample many excellent ales that are produced on the premises plus the village inn also serves food. The pretty market towns of Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley are close by and offer excellent shops, tea rooms and weekly markets. This scenic area has a wealth of attractions, including magnificent abbeys at Byland and Rivaulx, Castle Howard stately home, the North York Moors Steam Railway and museums such as Ryedale Folk Museum and Beck Isle Museum. ). The front and back gardens were very well kept with lovely fruit trees, raspberries and flowers. Back garden was completely secure, perfect for our dog. Previous reviews had mentioned some signs of wear and tear but for a cottage of its age, I think this is all just part of its character and charm. Owner was very friendly and helpful in providing key collection information and some reminders / tips about our stay. Would absolutely recommend.

Cottage was wonderfully quirky and so very comfortable and well equipped. The first cottage we have stayed in that has been genuinely dog friendly, even down to the doggy treats. No instructions and no doâs and donâts! Also well situated for walks and places of interest. Will definitely look at staying again, and would not hesitate in recommending it.

The cottage is comfortable, well equipped and dog friendly with walks from the door. Our host was very quick to fix a minor issue with the bath tap. The pub next door is friendly, has a good selection of beers and wines and there was no discernible noise coming from it. We would definitely recommend this cottage and would gladly return should our travels take us back to North Yorkshire.
