Sea Change is a well-received holiday cottage in Whitby, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and peaceful location. Guests appreciate the secure garden for pets, the well-equipped facilities, and the thoughtful touches like a welcome pack. While there are some minor concerns about maintenance and the accuracy of local amenities, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests planning to return.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few guests mentioned issues with cleanliness, such as dirty cupboards and a full vacuum cleaner, which slightly impacts the overall score.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to local attractions like beaches and countryside views. It is also noted for being dog-friendly and close to Whitby. The only drawback mentioned is the closure of a nearby pub, which was previously advertised as an amenity.
Guests consistently report that the cottage is comfortable, with a light and airy atmosphere, quiet surroundings for sound sleep, and well-equipped for a relaxing stay. The presence of a log burner and secure garden adds to the overall comfort.
The property is generally well-equipped with entertainment options, a secure garden, and a garage. However, some guests noted issues with maintenance, such as blown windows and a lack of kitchen blinds, which suggests room for improvement in this category.
While guests have mentioned a welcome pack and other considerate touches, there is not enough consistent information about gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such thoughtful gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

There is a lack of storage space in the kitchen to store food items aside from the boiler cupboard which is too warm to store items safely. Also a lack of oven proof dishes/serving dishes etc should you wish to prepare meals (there is no pub or restaurant in the village). The garden is small but secure and divided into distinct sections with chairs and tables-ideal for warmer months. The garage is an added bonus given that there are no proper parking facilities. If you have more than one car be prepared to have to bump it up onto a fairly steep bank. Given that it was October and therefore not so many vehicles there was room on opposite bank for second car. Despite house being close to the Park and Ride and the Stables Restaurant (approx 1.5 miles) the lack of a footpath or public transport from village means that walking is a little dangerous on a single track road to get to the Park and Ride so it is safer to drive ! There is a decent walk to Sandsend from the village which is up and down through woods and fields with some pleasant views .Be prepared to take a decent footpath map/App as there is a lack of signage along the route. We would consider staying again at Sea Change during spring/autumn months when it is quieter given the issue of parking .

Very well situated close to dog friendly beach at Sandsend and Whitby. Very impressed with the use of this garage. Lovely enclosed garden. Hope to visit again

I run my own cleaning business and I thought it was only surface clean the top of the fridge was dirty. I also didn't think it was good having the pots in the boiler cupboard as they smelt and tasted funny. Good do with a new frying pan as handle wasn't safe .But we had a great time and slept well and would go back. Thank you.
