Guests say

Cairns Vista in Whitby is a well-regarded apartment with stunning sea views and a convenient location close to town. Guests appreciate its spaciousness, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped kitchen. While some guests mention issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the majority have had positive experiences, often returning for multiple stays and creating lasting memories.

Most guests found Cairns Vista clean and comfortable, though a few noted the need for a deeper clean and mentioned issues such as cobwebs and window frames caked in paint. The majority of reviews, however, do not highlight cleanliness as a concern.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, proximity to the town centre, and ease of access to local attractions. Guests consistently mention the convenience and beauty of the location, making it a highlight of their stay.

Guests generally find the apartment comfortable, with particular mentions of comfortable beds and sofas. There are a few concerns about the condition of mattresses and towels, but these are not widespread.

The apartment is well-equipped, with a kitchen that guests find satisfactory for their needs. Some guests noted a lack of cleaning supplies and the need for minor maintenance. The building's entrance and lift received criticism, but the apartment itself is appreciated for its amenities.

While some guests were pleased with the welcome pack, including milk and biscuits, there is insufficient information to determine a consistent level of thoughtfulness across all stays. As such, it is politely noted that while some guests may receive gifts, they are not guaranteed.

About this property

An outstanding third floor apartment set in an attractive converted hotel, right on the seafront with arguably the best views in Whitby. Access to the beach is directly outside the apartment and all of the town’s amenities are just a few minutes’ walk away, making this lovely apartment ideal for families and friends to explore this popular, atmospheric town. With easy access by lift or via the original staircases, the property has a spacious and light, open plan living area, which includes a modern kitchen with a breakfast bar and wrought iron dining table. There are three steps up to the contemporary sitting room, which with it's high ceilings and expansive windows, gives a real feeling of the former grandeur of this Victorian building. There are stunning, sweeping views over the sea, stretching right along the coast as far as the eye can see. The apartment was fully renovated by the owners in late 2014 and the end result is a very modern, comfortable and desirable place to enjoy a holiday. A small balcony leads off from the kitchen, perfect to enjoy the fresh sea air over a morning coffee! With four individually styled bedrooms and a luxurious Jacuzzi bath, in addition to a large walk-in shower, this superb apartment suits all guests. There are pubs, restaurants and tea rooms close by, along with the cobbled market square and quaint alleyways and streets to explore. Why not enjoy a leisurely hour-long walk along the promenade to the pretty little village of Sandsend, with its seaside cafes and art gallery? Climb the ancient 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey and St. Mary's Church, perched high on the cliff top overlooking the town. There are attractive ornamental gardens in Pannett Park, or you may wish to visit the Captain Cook museum. The surrounding area has many attractions including a nostalgic trip on the famous North York Moors Steam Railway which winds its way through heather-clad moors from Grosmont to Pickering, or maybe enjoy a fun-filled day at Flamingo Land theme park. A superb beachfront apartment in Whitby with wonderful sea views.

Situated at the mouth of the River Esk, Whitby is an ancient fishing port steeped in history. The ruin of St Hilda's Abbey is high on Whitby's East Cliff and looks down on narrow streets and alleyways. From the old town, the parish church of St Mary, also on East Cliff, has 199 steps leading to it and the churchyard was one of the inspirations for Bram Stoker's Dracula. Other attractions in Whitby include the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Victorian Jet Works and The Dracula Experience. There are year-round events at Whitby Pavilion Complex and there is a blue flag beach and spectacular cliffs and bays to explore. Whitby is in a beautiful region and offers visitors a great deal of variety for a memorable holiday any time of year.

The views from this property cannot be overstated; the Abbey framed perfectly in the balcony door, the town rooftops, the whole of the bay, wonderful sunsets, watching the tide come in and out. Sitting on the balcony watching the world go by and listening to the sea. The apartment was large, clean and comfortable, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, fluffy towels. Clean bathrooms. Great spot as near to town but not in the thick of it. The owners send a very handy guide to the flat (where things are, how appliances etc work, the local area) to you digitally which was a great touch and very handy. There is a lift which is handy for bringing everything in when you first arrive. Otherwise the stately old hotel stairs are easy to go up and down if you have no mobility problems. If you don't know Whitby, the cliffs down to the beach are STEEP; there is a cliff lift but not working when we were there. I think my legs are still tired! The beach is clean, lifeguarded and the sea very clear and calm. Dogs are allowed on certain parts only. High tide comes right in so keep an eye on the tide times. Whitby is absolutely charming and incredibly pretty. However, I have never stayed anywhere in the UK as packed and busy as it was over a sunny, summer holiday weekend. Luckily the flat is away from the hustle and bustle. I recommend walking round early in the morning to get a real feel for it before the crowds arrive. If I visit Whitby again, I would absolutely rent this flat.

The building was once the best hotel in Whitby - some faded grandeur remains. Shame that there is scaffolding up at the moment and we didn't know this in advance, but shouldn't be up much longer. Stayed with my Mum who has some mobility issues - we were worried sofas would be too low, but actually were OK, she could manage 4 steps between sitting area and kitchen and there is also a walk down two corridors from the lift and a few steps at the main entrance.

The views from the front windows was amazing. Will definitely be booking again. Nice touch having the milk and shortbread biscuits ready on arrival.
