A sweet, little detached stone and pantile cottage, originally an old piggery, situated in the tiny hamlet of Ugglebarnby, one mile from Sleights. With exposed timbers and oak doors, this characterful and charming Sleights cottage has been lovingly renovated to a high standard. Traditionally furnished and well equipped, this Sleights cottage provides a very comfortable and romantic hideaway, with a spacious sitting room, modern kitchen and bathroom plus two cosy bedrooms. Outside this Sleights cottage, a flagged patio and pretty garden is the perfect spot to sit in and relax, taking in the glorious views over rolling countryside. Enjoy excellent walks from the doorstep, with a network of public footpaths in the vicinity, including the Eskdale Walk and the Cleveland Way coastal path. The village of Sleights has good amenities, including two pubs, a local shop, bakery and superb butcher's. Enjoy the fishing port of Whitby, with its winding cobbled streets, famous abbey and wonderful fish and chips, or explore the spectacular coastline and dramatic North York Moors. The area surrounding this Sleights cottage offers a wealth of attractions, including the steam railway at Grosmont, the pretty market towns of Pickering and Helmsley and stately homes and gardens such as Castle Howard. The cottage is very cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Plenty of local information provided to help you plan your days out. Large car parking area so easy to unload and load right by the front door. We visited Whitby, York and Harrogate for an exhibition but the weather turned wintry so we were unable to complete our wish list of things to do. An excuse to return again one day! Many thanks to Margaret for making our stay so memorable.

It appeared to have enjoyed a recent refurbishment as the carpets, and decor appeared untouched by wear and tear from frequent comings and goings. The cupboards were full of everything one could need . and the welcome hamper was a lovely thoughtful gesture . The stay felt like being home from home ;very comfortable and warm... The only point for criticism could be that we found the wash basin in the bathroom quite small and inadequate for say washing one's face.. We would definitely enjoy a return visit some time as we truly enjoyed the comfort ,peace and the pretty location.
