Tucked away in the picturesque village of Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire, is this fantastic studio-style holiday home, ‘The Shepherd's Rest’. Enjoying a superb location on a smallholding nestling amongst open farmland within the North York Moors National Park in an elevated position on a hillside offering exceptional views across the moors and uninterrupted sea views, The Shepherd's Rest is a fabulous choice for couples seeking a romantic escape. The property benefits from off-road parking, this is located about 150 yds from the hut which has its own fenced garden, and on-site animals including friendly sheep, ducks and chickens which may come and say hello during your stay. This property faces south so when it's out the sun can be enjoyed all day from morning till night - 2 sun loungers and 1 tree suspended hammock chair provided.
There is no other accommodation within 200 yds of this shepherd’s hut which makes it an unusually secluded and private place with uninterrupted views through 360 degrees of open country-side and the sea where it is not unusual for you to spot seals and dolphins throughout the year with even the odd whale in summer in the Bay to say nothing of the spectacular sunrises and sunsets and the night sky. Due to the location, it is not unusual for foxes, badgers, hares, owls and buzzards to come within a few meters of the hut. A spotting telescope is mounted on the verandah rail for your enjoyment - guests like to scour the coastline and moors to see where they are going to explore next. Inside, you will find a delightful open plan living space, featuring a well-equipped kitchen for rustling up tasty dishes, ready to enjoy at the dining table for two or alfresco with a view, and an inviting sitting area with plush sofa and a TV, ideal for evenings relaxing in front of a much-loved film. Continue through to find a well-appointed shower room where you can freshen up at the end of the day, before climbing into the sumptuous double bed to catch some well-deserved rest. Explore the village, where you can stock up on essentials at the convenience store, enjoy leisurely strolls with fresh fish and chips in hand courtesy of the Fish Box, treat your other half to a meal at the Grosvenor, Fylingdales Inn and Brambles Bistro, followed by a drink at the Smugglers Ale House, delve into history at the Robin Hood’s Bay Museum, the Yorkshire Coast Dino-saur and Fossil Museum, and the National Trust – Old Coastguard Station, or spend a fun-filled day at the beach. Next stop is Whitby, where you can climb the famous 199 Steps, tour the magnificent Whitby Abbey, hike along The Cinder Track, embark on a boat trip to go fishing or seal and whale watching, tour the Whitby Museum, hook your catch of the day along the West Pier or catch a live performance at the Whitby Pavilion. Further afield, you’ll find Scarborough, home to a remarkable castle, the amusements of Luna Park and Alpamare, the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, and Peasholm Park. Adventure awaits at The Shepherd's Rest.
One of the most attractive communities along the English coast is Robin Hood's Bay, with its winding cobblestone alleys and lovely houses. This picturesque old fishing community, previously home to writer Leo Walmsley, can be located between the larger cities of Scarborough and Whitby, tucked away at the edge of a broad, sweeping bay surrounded by beautiful cliffs and dramatic moorland scenery. Visitors of all types will enjoy strolling along the shore and along the cliffs, while hikers of a more serious persuasion will appreciate the area's inclusion on such long-distance routes as the Cleveland Way, the Lyke Wake Walk, and the Coast to Coast. The village has wonderful conveniences, including attractive alleys to wander and numerous locations to rest, relax, and refresh. The ideal location from which to explore the Yorkshire coastline.

We were very comfortable, the views across to the Bay are beautiful. There is also a very good bus service too. We would definitely recommend a stay here.
