After parking up, step inside your new home-from-home and be welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cosy woodburning stove in the sitting room is the perfect spot to warm your toes after a long day of exploring the picturesque countryside; complete with a Smart TV, you can also enjoy a movie night with loved ones, or head down the hallway for a competitive evening in the games room. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the essentials you need for a week away, and the charming dining room is a lovely spot for a family dinner. The town of Annan, a former harbour, lies on the banks of the River Annan, in East Dumfries and Galloway, and is steeped in history, with the area once the site of Roman camps and the workplace of the writer Thomas Carlyle. Each year, the town celebrates the Riding of the Marches, in honour of the Royal Charter bestowed by King James V, which involves parades, massed pipe bands and competitions. The area around Annan has many small towns, picture postcard villages and hamlets, plus beautiful unspoilt coastline, with sandy beaches and hidden coves. Visit nearby Caerlaverock Castle, one of Scotland's finest ruined castles or Annandale Distillery. Take a day trip and marvel at the majestic architecture of the grand abbeys of Melrose and Jedburgh or visit the northern Lake District and the historic Hadrian’s Wall. Annan is an ideal base for exploring this lovely area.

Very well presented, facilities first class. We were even contacted by the owner to check all was OK and did we need anything else. There were no negatives to this property and we stayed for 2 weeks. We have stayed in many cottages but none to this standard. We would definitely recommend

The kitchen was huge and well equipped, the living room was cosy and comfortable (the leather couches were lovely), the beds were extremely comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. The garden was a haven in the sun with a book and a cup of coffee, listening to the birds. We liked the fact that the cottage stood alone and that there was super parking. The games room was an added bonus. All in all, it was an excellent base for a weekâs chill out. If I had one observation, it would be that putting a hairdryer into the cottage would be a plus. I never take my own, to cut down on packing but normally the property has one. Hetland Hall hotel, a few minutes walk, serves lovely food as does Caulderâs Garden Centre, which is a few minutes walk in the other direction.
