What our customers say about their holidays

Jock's Hoose was a beautiful place to stay. The cottage is well presented, cosy and in an idyllic location overlooking the River Nith. We saw otters, herons, oyster catchers, pine martins, woodpeckers, bats and a roe deer within the garden or a short walk away along the river which can be accessed very close to the property. The only things that I think could be improved would be more information available at the property re: bins as outside bins were all really full by the end of our visit, hand soap (we had to buy some for one bathroom) and a few more basic essentials such as tea bags and coffee, and fencing around the full perimeter of the garden as we couldn't leave our dog (a greyhound) off lead there due to gaps in the hedge. These points would, however, not put us off staying again.

Mrs Murray is a great hostess. We arrived late evening after a traumatic road journey and couldn’t find the cottage. Seeing a light in a house we called there and it was thankfully Mrs Murray who jumped in her car and took us round. Once inside she gave us a tour of how everything worked and the cottage was warm and cosy. We had fresh eggs, biscuits, chocolates… what a warm welcome. We had a great week, could not fault anything and if ever in that neck of the woods again would really hope the cottage was vacant.

The extras that the owner left were very welcome. Everything to make your first cuppa ( apart from milk) and some lovely biscuits to have with it. All cleaning items needed were there and even shower gel etc. The beds were made up and very comfortable. Tge garden was beautiful and much appreciated by our 2 dogs. We have never known Luan to quiet, it was so peaceful she had nothing and noone to bark at. The view is stunning and location peaceful yet only 15 mins from Dumfries and all shops you need.

A comfortable and well equipped cottage in a quiet location. Plenty of space, good comfy beds, nice walk in shower, well appointed kitchen with fridge freezer and washing machine. Large private parking space, off road and next to the cottage. Lovely views from the cottage of the river Nith. It was relaxing to sit and watch the birds come and go on the river. Well located to visit Dumfries which has several good museums. We have no doubt that we will return to Branta.

Our third stay at Branta which was as lovely as previous trips. Nice welcoming touches. Accommodation is comfortable and has everything you need for a holiday. Lovely views from the front and in November lots of birds to see each morning and late afternoon. Lots of places to visit locally and good food to be had at The Nith. Hope to return next year. Mrs Murray the owner is a delight and usually visits to mak sure everything is ok.
