Southerness is a small seaside community on the Colvend coast, one of the best lengths of shoreline on the 'Scottish Riviera.' It was founded in the late 18th century and looks out over the Solway Firth. It has all you need for a pleasant holiday, including three pubs, two village stores, a leisure complex with a pool at Parkdean, and two miles of sandy beaches with sand dunes, rock pools, and Gulf Stream warmed waters, as well as one of Scotland's oldest lighthouses, established in 1748. The neighbouring Criffel Hill, which climbs to 569m and gives superb trekking options, has wonderful views of the farms and sands of the Nith Estuary below. The Southerness Championship Golf Course is located adjacent to the settlement and provides panoramic views of the Solway Firth, Cumbrian Lake District to the south, and Galloway Hills to the west. A fantastic location with plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Couches and beds are cosy and the open plan living is perfect. Although next to caravan park it's at the opposite end to main entrance so very peaceful. The ocean view from the living room is lovely and minutes from miles of beach walks. Great to be just 5min walks to the main street for shop, pubs, takeaway & bus stop. Been to dozens of cottages and lodges over the years and this is one of my most enjoyable

The only thing we found difficult was actually finding the property from the directions given. These need rewriting. It would also be useful to have a guide for the oven and microwave.

Well appointed and well furnished. Beds really comfortable. It is next to a caravan park but if you have kids there was plenty to do for them. However the Wigwam remsained peaceful and quiet and being next to a caravan site was certain no bother. It's a 2 minute walk to the beach and the cottage has a lovely sea view. Nice pub about a 10 minute walk away. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this beautiful cottage.
