Guests say

Tigh Fasgaidh is a well-received cottage, praised for its comfort, cleanliness, and location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy wood burner, and thoughtful touches like welcome packs. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with only a few mentioning the need for a deeper clean or specific issues like mould spores on windows. The positive remarks on cleanliness far outweigh the negatives.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to local attractions and amenities. Some guests were disappointed by the lack of advertised views, but the overall feedback on location is very positive.

Guests frequently mention the comfort of the beds and the cosiness of the cottage. A few comments suggest room for improvement, such as the need for better blinds or doors for privacy and light disturbance, but these are minor compared to the overall comfort experienced.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, with a special mention of the kitchen. However, several reviews point out maintenance issues like a non-working TV, log burner problems, and a leaky toilet, which suggests room for improvement in this category.

Guests have noted welcome packs and fresh flowers, indicating the owners' thoughtfulness. However, as these gifts are not consistently mentioned by all reviewers, it is politely noted that such gestures, while appreciated, may not be guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

The former croft house offers traditional charm with a seamless blend of modern luxury, ideal for both a family adventure to the Scottish Highlands and a base for the more experienced hill walker. The area offers several opportunities to enjoy the Scottish Highlands with areas to suit both the experienced climber and hill walker, as well as families. The cottage has a number of local guidebooks. Aware of the vagaries of the Scottish weather, there are numerous ‘rainy day’ activities on offer locally as well. Put it down to just needing airing until we discovered the black mould. There is black mould on the wall by the window in upstairs bedroom and over the window frame. Black mould all over door frame in the ‘drying’ room and around the door. Awful discovery on first night of a used diabetic monitoring device with a bloody needle in the shower, so very lucky that it was noticed before it impaled one of us, totally disgusting. Grill tray in cooker required cleaning before we could use it. Cottage is in a good location to travel to Skye, you do hear the busy road noise though. I agree with others that a garden gate would improve the garden, unsure why you are clearly so resistant to putting one there.Theres unsecure to the hillside and then there’s worryingly unsecure to the road.

Very quiet and peaceful (you occasionally hear the main road but only outside and it’s not intrusive). We only used the downstairs rooms as there were just 2 of us, although we did go upstairs to find more towels as 1 large towel each for a week when you can’t guarantee the weather to dry them is a bit tight. The water pressure and availability of hot water is excellent - the shower by the kitchen is fantastic. The kitchen is well fitted, including a dishwasher, although there was no dishwasher detergent (only salt) so we had to buy some (see below comment on last morning). The lounge is comfy and very roomy and we used my streaming services plus iPlayer to watch TV as standard terrestrial channels are not available. The bed we used and bedding were decent quality. We have already recommended the house to friends who also enjoy a Scottish holiday. My only ‘negative’ is the ask of guests to do housework on the last morning. We used to have an Airbnb and if guest chose to do any ‘cleaning’ it was a bonus, but we never asked and certainly didn’t have specific laundry baskets labelled for the task. We also always provided dishwasher tablets - 1 for each day of their stay. In my opinion stripping beds etc is not what people come on holiday to do. To be clear, we did it and often do, it is expectation / ask that I personally don’t like. As I say, we liked the house, have recommended it already and had a lovely stay overall.
