Guests say

Gardener's Cottage is a quaint and cosy property set in the tranquil Scottish Borders, appreciated for its peaceful woodland location and beautiful grounds. It is well-regarded as a relaxing retreat with a homely appeal, and guests have praised the warm welcome and the cottage's suitability for dogs. While some guests have suggested improvements, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage clean and well-presented, while others noted areas in need of a deep clean and maintenance. Some mentioned cobwebs and pet hairs, suggesting room for improvement in cleaning standards.

The location is highly praised for its quiet, rural setting amidst woodland, with easy access to local towns and attractions. It is considered excellent for both relaxing and exploring the Scottish Borders and Northumberland coast.

Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with cosy furnishings and a warm atmosphere. However, some have mentioned issues with beds and heating, indicating that while comfort is a strong point, there is some inconsistency.

The cottage is seen as well-equipped by some, but others have reported maintenance issues with appliances and a need for refurbishment. The presence of two bathrooms is appreciated, but the need for repairs and updates to facilities has been noted.

Many guests have felt well-cared for, mentioning thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, and biscuits on arrival. While such gestures are warmly received, it is important to note that these are not guaranteed for every stay.

We found the cottage to be comfortable and well equipped, with a cosy and homely appeal, characterful and ideal for peace and quiet.

I attempted to hoover the cobwebs myself to find the hoover smelt quite bad, it turned out the bag was completely full despite there being new bags in the cupboard. I changed the bag myself. There was dirt and dog hairs under the furniture downstairs so this had not been hoovered before we arrived, There was black mould in the en-suite shower which needed cleaning, I would suggest this had been there for a while given the amount showing. The hot tap in the en-suite has a sticky valve and therefore occasionally water does not appear when you open the tap. This should not detract from the location which is beautiful. Lots of nice walks in the immediate area and the main towns, Kelso and Berwick are easily accessible. I would recommend the property on this basis, however, the cleaning standards do need to improve.

Well equipped . Loved the two bathrooms when my grandchildren visited. The only negative was the creaking upstairs floor boards and stairs but owners can't do anything about that. Thank you for a lovely stay..
