The village of Drymen, nestling within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, was popular with Highland Cattle drovers in the 18th and 19th centuries due to its location and legend has it that Rob Roy MacGregor used Drymen as a base for his exploits against the Duke of Montrose. Today the village is popular with tourists who enjoy not only its attractive village green and selection of pubs, shops and restaurants, but also its location allowing access to Loch Lomond. The West Highland Way and the Rob Roy Way both pass through the village and nearby Conic Hill and mighty Ben Lomond and perennial favourites with walkers. Drymen is the ideal base for exploring most of central Scotland with both Stirling and Glasgow in easy reach. Drive up the west shore of Loch Lomond and explore further into Argyll with Arrochar and Inverary an easy day trip – just don’t be too distracted by the stunning scenery.

There are lovely views over countryside and a private garden. We really enjoyed our week at Gairdrew, a lot of thought from the owner has gone into making this a very special place. Great cafe within walking distance along old railway line. Perfect location.
