It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is located at the northernmost point of Loch Lomond and Trossachs Country Park. West of the town, 4 miles down the glen to Monachyle Mhor, is the magnificent Loch Voil. Rich in mythology and history, the Celts considered it to be a "thin realm" where there is little separation between the spiritual and physical worlds. The remains of the first Balquhidder kirk, which dates from 1631, contain the grave of Rob Roy MacGregor, a notorious 17th-century bandit who resided in and around the region. The headstone of St. Angus, an early Christian missionary who brought Christianity to the region in the 7th century, is located inside the current church, which was constructed in 1855.

Cottage is a good size for a couple of family and it was amazing. Clean and comfortable, cosy with the log burner or heating on. Lots of lovely little touches in the decor and also smelled divine. The shower was great. We were very lucky with the weather so spent a good bit of time in the garden and got use of the gas bbq a few times. Such a pretty garden with lots of birds and a great view of the hill. Great place to relax after a day of walking.Really peaceful and undisturbed. Locals amemities for us were within walking distance but only a short drive. The local motel is a great place for a few drinks. Locals are friendly. Becky is really lovely and helpful and provided us with a few tips about local walks and activities. She obviously works really hard to keep the cottage so nice and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. We had the absolute best time.

Beds very comfortable and kitchen well equipped. Lovely garden to enjoy the unexpectedly great weather. Hosts very quick to respond to the one wee problem we encountered. Great base for cycling.
