We are making some suggestions for improvements / maintenance, but only because you asked for them in the welcome book. They are not complaints! Here they are: It would be good to have somewhere to hang wet coats. The hooks by the back door would be ok if the wooden table were moved to somewhere else. It would also be good to have somewhere to put wet footgear to dry out â maybe a mat in the porch and another mat by the back door would do it. (NB: the day after we arrived it poured all day but after that it was a really lovely sunny week). We noticed on our arrival that the door to the kitchen cupboard on the left of the cooker is being damaged by the cooker hood, which it opens against. We put an Elastoplast over the corner of the cooker hood to give some protection but it really needs a protective plastic cover. The kitchen tap is hard to turn off. It may need a new washer. The door to the main bathroom (at the end of the hall) is hanging on one hinge. The outside pipe from the kitchen sink leaks buckets. It doesnât affect the guests, but it wonât be good for the wall to have that much water draining down against it. It would be good â and probably save you money â to have some instructions for the central heating. A lot fo the time we have been too hot. We kept turning it off at the boiler, but itâs obviously on a timer and kept turning on again. We turned down the radiator thermostats but this didnât work for some of them, and we couldnât find a central thermostat. Bulb gone in shower furthest from kitchen. And bulb gone in back lobby. Useful to know where landfill goes, we couldnât see the black bin and were trying to work out whether to put in bottom recycling bin. As I say, we arenât complaining, just giving you information! We had a really lovely week and intend to come back next year.

The view out of the dining room window was stunning where I saw seals daily. Also dog friendly and a good enclosed yard. The rooms were lovely and the beds were comfortable. We had a lovely stay!

A beautiful location - very peaceful and a wonderful wildlife haven. However, we have had significant problems with Sykes Cottages. When we arrived at 4pm on the Saturday with 2 young children we were told by the cleaner the oven was broken and someone would come and look at it on Tues. We were also told about various other problems with the house. We were told that the team were aware. I contacted Sykes Cottages that evening to see if they could get someone to us sooner than Tues as we had brought food which we now couldn't cook and we had a Sainsburys shop arriving 4hrs later which we couldn't change. Noone rang us back. This happened every day for several days. We finally had a new oven replaced on the Thursday. We have been back from holiday 3 weeks now and have contacted the Sykes team several times to try and claim some compensation for not being able to cook any of the food we had brought with us. We have continued to have difficulties with this. They have given us a small amount of compensation but in our view this was not sufficent for the lack of cooking facilities and the extremely poor communication and customer services. Overall, very disappointing and has impacted on our holiday experience. We would think twice about booking through Sykes Cottages again unfortunately.
