Guests say

Cable Cottage in Fishguard offers stunning views and a prime location for exploring Pembrokeshire's coast. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, well-equipped kitchen, and proximity to walking paths. While the cottage's comfort and facilities have received some criticism due to maintenance issues, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many guests planning return visits.

The cottage is consistently described as clean and well-presented upon arrival, contributing to a positive impression for guests. However, a few mentions of flies slightly detract from the overall cleanliness score.

The location is highly praised for its magnificent views, proximity to the coastal path, and the peaceful surroundings, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing retreat and exploration of the local area.

While the views and setting are adored, comfort is compromised by worn and low seating which several guests found difficult to use. The absence of bedside tables and lamps in one bedroom was also noted as inconvenient.

The cottage is well-equipped, but several reviews mention the need for maintenance, including replacing light bulbs, fixing broken shower shelves, and addressing damp issues. These recurring comments suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness accurately. While some guests mentioned the lack of a welcome pack and toilet paper, there are no consistent references to gifts or extra touches that would indicate the level of thoughtfulness.

About this property

This clifftop building was originally one of several built in the area to house communication cables when first laid under the Atlantic Ocean. Nowadays Cable Cottage is a very well appointed holiday home with dramatic coastal vistas.

The exceptional location commands superb panoramic sea views across Fishguard Harbour, up towards Dinas Head and beyond over the Irish Sea.

The coastal path can be joined by crossing the farmer’s field. This is a perfect base for exploring a selection of towns, villages and beaches, such as St Davids, Porthgain, Whitesands, Newport and Solva Harbour.

Fishguard is an ideal holiday destination on the award-winning Pembrokeshire Coast, which has been voted the second best coastal destination in the world according to the National Geographic magazine. The town itself has an array of gift shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs and offers the opportunity of viewing the superb Last Invasion Tapestry, which has been compared to the Bayeux Tapestry. Day trips to Ireland run daily and the picturesque Lower Fishguard Harbour is a delight for sailing enthusiasts. From this perfect holiday base you can enjoy the amazing coastline, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the beautiful Preseli Hills, where the Stonehenge Blue Stones originated, or explore the array of historic castles, working mills and visit the smallest city in Wales with its magnificent St. Davids Cathedral. Whatever you are looking for, this is a fantastic location for all ages.

The views are second to none and we were very comfortable. We had a problem one day with the hot water/heating but Rhys came immediately and sorted it. There were a few minor things such as bulbs not working and broken shower fittings but these did not bother us unduly. Over all we had a great week. Thanks very much.

The cottage is perfect for staying. The kitchen is well equipped so is each bathroom. Sleeping was comfy. And the view from the cottage to the sea is spectacular. We were quite fortunate with great weather just few drops of rain for couple of hours. The owner of the cottage was very friendly and helpful with everything we needed.
